We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamir Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamir, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me was to always build relationships. I have always been an extrovert, which has allowed me to talk to many different types of people. I have learned that the only way you can be successful is to build relationships with people and align with like minded individuals.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was just having this conversation on my show about how I am excited about the accomplishments I have earned over the years. I have always had a creative background from working with Walt Disney World as a creative costume designer to Tyler Perry Studios as a lead costumer on films. My passion for high end luxury fashion granted me 10 years with Bloomingdales as a Senior Executive Department Manager. And currently I hold the title of Area Marketing Manager with Saks Fifth Avenue. Hard work, dedication and relationship building have been the learned lessons which have helped me in my career.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge museum buff and I love to plan out excited things to do while vacationing. I would first have an amazing brunch at my spot Breakfast at Barney’s and have the sweet potato pancakes! Then take a ride to SCAD museum and check out the Ruth Carter exhibit, then a short Uber to the High and check out the latest viewing of the Calder-Picasso exhibition. Ride bikes on the Beltline and then pick up dinner from my favorite Japanese restaurant O-Ku in west midtown.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family are my biggest supporters. They have always helped me build character, reach for opportunities, and create platforms that reach everyday people.
