We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamil Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamil, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
You will put more work ours and time in then you will make money. The investment of time and effort is 24/7.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im the SVP of A&R for a company called CWE Distribution. I’m over all Artist Relations. What sets us apart from other music distributors is that we actually build a relationship with our artists, work side by side with them and help educate all of our independent artist about the music business. How I get to we’re I’m at today is hard work and dedication. Staying focused is always key. Working for a new distribution company is very hard because we are going against competitors like Empire and United Masters. The lessons are learned is stay learning you never can stop educating yourself in the music business. I want the world to know about me is that I do whatever it’ takes to get the job done while maintaining integrity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you are coming to Atlanta I would first take you to American Deli to eat. Then we would go to a cool lounge so many to choose from…with hookah and good drinks. After that maybe go to magic city for the entertainment and Waffle House to end the night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love to give a shoutout to (Fly) the CEO of Think It’s A Game Records (TIG). He gave me a chance to be an A&R at his record label one the biggest independent records labels in world.
