We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Kolodziej and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Kindness. I think we can all agree that last year tested lots of people in many different ways, but what was most shocking to me was seeing different sides of friends and family I hadn’t seen before. From a personal and a business standpoint, kindness has been one of my core values. I hope that anyone who has interacted with me via my online shop, social media, or in-person will see I am very customer-centric and grateful for everyone who has supported this little dream of mine. Without the encouragement of my friends, family, and customers I wouldn’t be here!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I take vintage brooches & secondhand pendants and upcycle them into bolo ties. Running with the vintage theme here, I also sell vintage clothing & home goods. I’m not the only one out here doing the vintage brooch to bolo thing anymore, but I think what sets me apart has been my dedication and creativity. Sometimes I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for over five years! It’s easy to keep doing it though, because it’s fun. I’ve branched out from bolo ties to bandana slides, cat collars (yep even your critters can partake in the fun), and choker necklaces.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, that’s a lot trickier now considering I’ve barely left my house in the last 12 months! I live OTP in Stockbridge, GA and don’t really consider myself a city gal anymore. A perfect week would be a stay in North Georgia for some hiking, antiquing, and wine of course. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my partner, Mikey. He is my #1 cheerleader and without him I would have never started this adventure. He is right along my side when I’m hunting for vintage brooches, digging through closets at estate sales, and helping me set up at markets. My mom falls into this category too – I can definitely say I am a lucky gal to have so much support from my loved ones.
