We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamesa Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamesa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

In the spring of 2019 I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility and with the help of some great fertility specialists, my dream of becoming a mother came true. We like to tell people that Camden was made with love and a little science. When the third trimester arrived, my husband and I were flooded with all kinds of unsolicited advice telling us to sleep now because it would be a thing of the past once our baby boy arrived. I don’t know about you, but that was not something I wanted to hear or look forward to, especially since there was little to no sleep happening in my third trimester.

Camden came and our home was filled with love, happiness and two very sleepy parents. I honestly don’t know how we made it through those first three months, but we did. We were following wake windows with Camden and had him on somewhat of a schedule and then he got his first tooth at 3.5 months and was also going through the four month sleep regression. I was scheduled to go back to work around this time and that is when we made the decision to work with a sleep consultant to help get our entire family sleeping better. Our sleep consultant, Steffi, was amazing and truly changed our lives for the better. She and I kept in touch after our sleep support ended and she asked what I thought about becoming a sleep consultant myself.

With the support of my family and Steffi, I became a certified pediatric sleep consultant and I could not be happier. I started this business because I want families that look like mine to know that you do not have to live a life of little to no sleep in parenthood.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the words of Langston Hughes, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.” That poem has always resonated with me and my upbringing. Growing up, I always knew that I wanted more than my surroundings. Nothing was given to me, I had to earn everything that I have achieved and that is what I’m most proud of. I got here because people saw something in me that I did not always see in myself and nurtured and supported me beyond belief.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my son Camden, my miracle baby, who changed my life and showed me a love that I have never known.
