We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamear Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamear, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Columbus, Georgia. I am so proud of my city! Where I come from has greatly impacted who I am today. Moving from a small town to a well-known city builds character. When I was younger, I knew I was destined for something more, so I made a decision to move to Atlanta for college. When I first moved, I struggled. I wasn’t used to being a small fish in a big pond. Going to a place where I had to work my butt off to get my name in rooms, really made me doubt myself at first. Then it brought out a part of me that I know I never would’ve tapped into had I not left Columbus. I think everyone should move away from their home town at some point. Even if you move back, you will experience growth and learn more about yourself. Also, my grandparents raising me for a lot of my life gave me some old fashioned values that are quite refreshing some would say. I notice more and more that integrity is hard to come by . Despite my parents’ shortcomings, they were able to instill the importance of morality, genuineness, and integrity in me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One thing about me is that I am always working on a couple of different projects at a time. Whether it’s Just Jamear, new music, or a new event. I’ve always seemed to have my hands full. The most recent thing that I am working on is an event called “Just Jam Sessions”. Just Jam Sessions is a 3 installment exclusive and collaborative event. It’s more than just a jam session, it is a platform that will provide opportunities through the art of collaboration and good vibes. Follow @justjamsession for more information! Also, I recently joined a rock band, so I’ll be gigging soon! I think that is what sets me apart from a lot of people. I’ll always find an unconventional way to go about things. I don’t like to be boxed in on “what I do” in the entertainment industry. I want to be known for doing everything I wanted to do, like Master P. So far in my career, I’m most proud of the creation of my web series, “Just Jamear”. From my amazingly wonderful team to the dope pre-mear party. We worked our asses off and made a timeless production. Make sure to go watch all of the episodes on youtube. I haven’t given up on my baby just yet. I have simply been consumed with other projects that will eventually lead me back to it. The road to creating “Just Jamear” wasn’t easy. It was my first big solo project, and there was nothing solo about it. Every single person who was on my production team was outstanding. They all have their personal endeavors too, yet they still dedicated their time and talents to my project. Not to mention those who were there when I was at my lowest. We had so many setbacks, and I was soooo broke. Yet, we still somehow managed to pull off every film day. It was easy, but along the way, I learned that your biggest supporters are usually not your friends. No one believes in the vision until everyone does. You just have to believe in God, believe in yourself and hold on to the people that supported your vision from the beginning. Despite all my mistakes, I want the world to know that I will never stop until all my dreams are fulfilled. People can try to shut me out, but God will always find a way to get me in the rooms I was meant to be in. I will succeed at everything I put my mind to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I would like to dedicate this article to God. He is the head of my life. I don’t always obey, but I am doing my best to build a stronger relationship. Secondly, I dedicate this article to my family. As cliche as it sounds, without their unconditional love, I don’t know where I would be. Their support is unmatched. When I feel like I am failing they empower me, and they encourage me to follow my dreams. I know that no matter what I can count on them, and for that reason, they can always count on me. Love yall.
