Meet Jalisa Baskin | Content Creator/cosmetics business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalisa Baskin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalisa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am now working on a cosmetic business. My reasoning for wanting to start a beauty business is to mainly help other women feel beautiful. I actually just started taking things more seriously after I was hospitalized and realized I had nothing in the hospital to make me feel like that girl while I was there. Things such as lipgloss, mascara, lashes and more. I have now decided to go ahead and put myself and my cosmetics business first priority.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I will start off by saying, I am just getting started with all things business and so far it is going great. I am a content creator and upcoming cosmetics business owner. I recently just started taking creating content seriously this year as before, I was not focused on my priorities as a content creator. I had to make changes such as learning the ins and outs of creating content; learning marketing; learning to post with a purpose to become more successful. Six months later I am now a paid content creator who helps other beginner creators get started with content. I give out tips and tricks on all my social accounts on how to become a content creator and it feels good to help others. Some lessons I learned along the way is to be yourself; be prepared; don’t compare your growth to others because it’s easy to do when you think you are at a stand still. I want the world to know that anything is possible, keep faith remain strong and remain true to yourself and what you are trying to accomplish. My That Girl Digitalz ebooks and creator guides are here to help any aspiring content creators that ready to turn content into profit. As far as my cosmetics business, this is newly in the works but Pinkk Lux will have lip gloss products; body glitter; lip liners and more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not a girl that gets out often, but I love to go eat and go out on the town for shopping. I’m from Macon Ga, I love Marshall’s because they have a variety of choices to choose from whether it’s beauty, electronics, clothing, food and household. One of my favorite restaurants is Long Horn, you would enjoy the spicy bites and that good ole strawberry margarita, get you right every time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout boujee_barbiee, she is a young successful black women in business. Her success, motivation and drive is what made me to want to create content and get more serious about business all together. So thanks to her. I found her on social media.
