We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalen Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalen, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
That sometimes things are just not going to go according to plan and that’s okay. With anything worth having you have to be willing to put in the work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
While I do run a business my love comes from the practice of visual arts. I feel most comfortable in the thick of it the long days drive my passion. Seeing the work come together and knowing you and your crew are the reason behind it is so thrilling. I spend all my free time either reading up on new equipment or even Studying projects others have filmed to see how they accomplished this shot. I love the problem solving, I love having to spend 3 hours. building a rig for a 30 second take. I love the confident that I have while on set as a whole. Knowing exact mic placement or how many decibels this one thing will create in my track. Everything is an experience and I make it a mission to learn and better my craft everyday. Using this mind set ive landed work with Trust, Coca Cola, QC the label, The new 1017, Live nation, youtube originals Vh1 etc.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Raceway its one of my biggest hobbies we could go to Road Atlanta or the porsche driving experience or even the historic Atlanta Drag Way. For those who also love the outdoors we could visit the Amicalola Falls state park or Red top Mountain state park. If you love a night on the town the buckhead bars and ponce city market are great areas. Last but not least we could find all our eating needs on Atlanta food guys Instagram on website rather looking for black owned or just something different we could find it all there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First in for most my family My parents and my lovely girl friends who has been my rock threw this journey. I also wanna thank my business partners on opposites ends of the industry(French Spencer)& (Dale Falk Jr) who both giving me a chance when I was still just a college student with a work ethic and a dream.
