Meet Jalen Cardell: Artist & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalen Cardell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalen, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Legacy to me is more than accolades or accomplishments, its always been about who your becoming constantly. The questions that stay in my mind is “what will they say about you while your here? Who will you inspire after your gone?” The main goal is that I want to leave behind more than just music and art more than just generational wealth but something that’ll will stay beyond me for my kids, grandchildren and it continues. I want to be a reminder to everyone that I reach every goal I set to accomplish. Also, My music will let generations after me know that your dreams don’t stop growing and your goals are only new doors, so as long as your here go for it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Given some thought I’d say the best way to describe my art in 1 word is authentic. I am most proud of my originality though like any artist I’ve drawn inspiration from. Everything around me from music to movies to experiences have played a big role in my career. I’d say I’m most proud of my clear and original translation of it all. I feel like my sound is my own and it took a lot of me to develop it, to understand its constantly growing and evolving as I do. Its taught me a lot but the greatest lessons have been staying true to myself, focus on building my career and my “1027” brand. Be ready for “1027” to takeoff! If it isn’t for me than I will not invest my energy into it and that has guided me for as long as I can remember. When 1 of 1 Ent. Music Group and “1027” brand is brought up I want it to be a reflection of self awareness and empowerment

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well the first move would be Downtown for a full day of shopping at the mall, usually hit somerset or Twelve Oaks. Then we’ll do some adventurous outdoor activities like paint balling. Also, we’ll hit the Checker bar, maybe one of the club on the west of the city (Detroit). Maybe Greektown or The Society Club that night. Following that day with some time at Belle Isle Park in Downtown Detroit. This is one of the hottest spot in the city for real. When we are down there take a day to watch the boats and rent a few scooters Most of the week I’d probably spend most of the time at the house tending to the plants or in the studio cooking up some tracks. But mainly I’m at home. This is really my favorite place to be if we don’t go out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a Huge Shoutout to 1 of 1 Entertainment Founder and CEO Jarin Bryant aka JB and Doc Tae for being the hardest working management team on earth, we’ve been grinding to get to the top and we haven’t stopped yet. They are preparing me and the rest of the 1 of 1 Ent Music Group that our time is now. We have to bring the light to all genres of music from Detroit to Atlanta. These guys have taken 1 of 1 Entertainment to the next level this past 2020 and our future looks very bright.. JB has kept his foot on the gas and I give all the respect to my managers. With the strong foundation and team JB and Doc are building, we will be the next music empire. Trust me! I also want to give a shout out to Librahouse.studio B.quiet Productions and Mitchey finese for engineering all of my work since 2018. There is much more work in the near future to be on the lookout for. My guys from 67 Riots, CAntbelocated, Tee Goodie, Obie, Jonesville. I have to give them a shout out for building our brand and having family vibes throughout the production of our first project together. Shout out 67 Riots! Last but not least, a Huge shout out to Alexandra Vahanian, IG: Avahanian, for doing my most recent cover art for singles 7 Mile, Time Today and Caterpillar.
