We had the good fortune of connecting with Jakk Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jakk, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. I find the light in each individual is meant to be motivated by divine inspiration or connection to it’s purpose. I like that more people are encouraged by the notion that there is room for us all to shine bright, and one light inspires another.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There is very little that sets me apart from others as my circle of love and like-minded individuals connect as a unit. I am part of a team of beautiful chefs and creatives that help and encourage our entrepreneurship. Professionally, I am where I am by being open to advice and alleviate myself from pride or ego. It has not been easy. I find as far as I’ve come, I prioritize my self learning learn as I tap into different levels of my successes and creativity. I have overcome challenges by accepting personal achievements are parts of my growth and not a hindrance to my elevation.

The lessons that I’ve learned along the way are to honor my feelings. Realizing where I am emotionally is important when navigating how I chose to create. Learning to express myself in relations to my brand has been an interesting lesson. Opening myself up to recieve support definitely helped me develop this certainty about myself. I am sure of who I am, what I love to do, and how I intend on spreading my love through my creations!

I want the world to know my story is foundated off of love. I was raised off of LOVE. I want the world to know that my brand represents the taste of love. Every ingredient is intentionally combined in a way to recieve how each meal or product is made with love. I am able to cook and prepare because I am FED. I am full off love and wish to create with this energy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I imagine my best friend visiting I know that the experience is nothing without good food! I like to identify us as gourmands! Connoisseurs if you will. One of my favorite places to hang back for good food and drinks is Thai 26 and Budi’s Sushi. We usually can agree on a flavorful and exciting profile that excites us both! I love an endless feeling of excitement, and so does my best friend. I would recommend locations with a variety of entertainment such as Ponce City Market, Politan Row, and The Works. The High Museum is a must to instigate that inspiration and creativity, YES! I’ve never had a boring night in Midtown, that is always an easy suggestion when looking to meet interesting people. Next to food , it is about corresponding your mood and plans with wardrobe! My bestie is also my fellow thrift and thrive buddy, so checking on hot spots near Little Five Points is definitely a must. After a fulfilling weekend of exploring and taking on such pleasurable roles as food enthusiasts, let’s wrap us up in relaxation. I’d imagine us not up for much of anything but a detox and zen. The possibilities for that are endless at Jeju Sauna. Farewells before flights and coffee at Community Grounds Coffee shop. The spice Cocoa is to die for! Oh wow, I really have to make this weeklong bestie stay a reality. Lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
