We had the good fortune of connecting with Jakia Cheatham – Myles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jakia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When starting Pretty Women Hustle the only thing that kept me from giving up was the NEED for a platform that features EVERY WOMAN going after their dreams. I wanted to create a platform that celebrates a Boss Woman’s journey from beginning to end. We are here to celebrate you when you first think of the business idea and when you make your first sale. A community for women by women was needed and everyday I am learning and creating new opportunities that speaks to the woman who has a creative idea that the world needs to know about.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Most people don’t know that Pretty Women Hustle launched first in 2014 as just a magazine, we had about 4-5 issues and failed miserably. I literally felt defeated and gave up.

Fast forward to 2020, I remember having a discussion with my daughter about the word “dreams” and I told her she could do anything she puts her mind to. I instantly felt convicted because I let go of my purpose.

In the middle of a pandemic, all I had was my prayer and my purpose I made my first post and released Pretty Women Hustle as a Blog dedicated to highlighting and promoting women doing extraordinary things in business and in faith.

Has this journey been easy? Absolutely not. We have had our share of ups and downs but we know that our mission to highlight EVERY woman with a creative idea is exactly what sets us apart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When visiting Atlanta the only hotel in my radar is The Westin on Peach Tree, its affordable and you get a great experience. I am a foodie so I literally can’t choose one spot but there is so many gems in the A. My advice is to the explore the city as much as possible and utilize @theblackgirlsguideatl. I am churchy so I have to make time to visit House of Hope Atlanta with Pastor E. Dewey Smith Jr. The experience, the welcoming atmosphere will definitely make you want to come back.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success thus far is credited to GOD and My Village. My village is made up of my family, church family and core team for Pretty Women Hustle. Without the prayers and dedication of my village there is absolutely no way I could continue the work we do at Pretty Women Hustle.

I truly believe that a persons success is built on the prayers and push from the people around them.
