We had the good fortune of connecting with Jahlil E. Burney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jahlil E., have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Personally I feel to know whether to keep going or to give up is determined by how much do you really want your dream to come true. If you are really passionate about something you will never give up on it no matter how hard life may seem or how bad business may look. The key factor that keeps me going is my passion for designing things and seeing the work come to fruition. I feel like you should do something because you are really passionate about doing it. Life is not easy we all go through things but it has to be something inside of you that drives you to not never give up on your dream or self. It’s not always necessarily about the money even though as an artist we want to get paid for our work. Only you can determine if it’s time to give up or keep going.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a 21 year old entrepreneur born in Lakewood, New Jersey but my family later moved to Atlanta when I was around 6. I have always been creative since I was younger but never really knew what I wanted to do. I started off by doing video footage for our church Sunday services, then in middle school a friend of family showed me how to shoot with a dslr camera and I fell in love. After that all I wanted to do was photography and videography. While growing up I always seen my older brother making music with his friends and that exposed me to a lot of creative outlets. I started off by shooting music videos for my brother and his friends then later on for my friends in high school. The summer after graduating high school I started my clothing brand “FYPM Clothing” while waiting to start technical school. I started by ordering a couple shirts at a local print shop with a design I created on my phone. This is when real life hit me and I had to make a decision either focus on school & work or focus on building my brand I picked school & work I didn’t end up taking the brand serious for almost another two years BIG MISTAKE. Later, in the summer of 2021 I did my biggest drops to date which gave me the reassurance and confidence that I can do this fashion thing and that I can make a name for myself.

My story/journey has been crazy and far from easy I have had challenges since I was a couple months old. When I was less the one years old I had surgery on my lower abdomen which saved my life and saved me from having a colostomy bag today. It seems like I’ve always gone through challenges from personal problems, car accidents to dislocating both my knees I have been through a lot and I am only 21 years old. They say “God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers” & I believe that everything I’ve been through has made me the man I am today and I haven’t even begun yet.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place to eat is Moreau’s Oven in Jonesboro,Ga south of Atlanta.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
