We had the good fortune of connecting with Jahdi Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jahdi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk, when I think about risk I think about being fully satisfied regardless of the outcome. Similar to the smell of good food when it sparks your taste and sense. Risk taking has gotten me everything I’ve strived for. The Idea of building a family, marriage, being a supportive father. The Idea of being an incredible photographer, building a brand, owning a business. I manifested those thoughts through faith and fine works, giving me the ability to take on any risk.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created a photography studio for creatives, branded as Di Vision ATL. Being a photographer in ATL isn’t any thing new in the city. There are millions of us in Atlanta alone, but what sets me apart from the rest I believe is my visionary mind behind it. I see things differently, in ways that are physically, symbolic and metaphorical. I capture vibes in the very moment. My Studio plays a major roll in those captures. Was it easy? Not at all, but very challenging especially due to the worlds conditions and the pandemic. I can say I’ve learned a lot. I’ve been shooting professionally for about five years now, within those years a lot of mentoring from other great photogs, professional courses in the field I’m in as well as learning the legal side of things when it comes to owning a business and brand. The paperwork, a lot of contract papers and can’t forget about the forms of payments. In order for my business to thrive I got to be able to advance in time. I want the world to recognize the brand and I as a vision. Like when you watch the big screens and billboards you automatically recognize the producer behind it, I want that same vibe.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to hit the city for some nice Gyros! There is a Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant call Cafe Agora, they serve the best gyros both lamb and chicken. Got to try their baklava, and sweet Mediterranean dessert. They have two locations one in Midtown near 10th and peachtree and one in buckhead. Waterfalls, definitely have to pay a visit to Roswell mill falls, great spot to relax, watch the falls, have a picnic or great spot to capture photos. Looking to wine down? A few favorite nightlife spots are OurBarATL, giving great performances from all genres of music and events and Hole in the Wall on Peachtree in buckhead if you want the bartender to get you well lit!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely would love to give a shout-out and thanks to my super supportive wife Indigo. From taking on motherly duties to directing models, being a model, managing the brand, giving her thoughts and inputs and for the most part being a pure positive influencer! Also shoutout to my parents, raising me in such a creative atmosphere along side my sister 6iicks always looking up to me and believing in me.
