We had the good fortune of connecting with jaffar toombs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi jaffar, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I didn’t want to work for anyone and I wanted to make a change in the plus size community, and wanted to start a positive movement to cater to curvy, fullfigured, bbw and plus size women.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
well apart from my magazine, I’m a Photographer/videographer. what makes me different from others is that I’m me and no one can be that they me do things similar but its not me. I’m not at the top I’m trying every day to make it, It’s not easy but you learn as you go no matter if your at the top your still learning and growing. All i can say is keep pushing there are times i want to give up on everything and shut down so its a battle but I pray and hope for the best but keep pushing. I learned to be yourself, be you don’t let anyone tell you you can’t or your not good enough also watching and listen to everything. I want people to know that this movement is the future to the plus size world and that we are taking a stand with the plus size curvy women. We are bring some new for the world to see, such as beauty, curves, entrepreneurship, health & fitness, beauty tips, plus size curvy fashion, plus size male models and much more. I’m riding with my plus size sistas out there and we are going to Suge Knight the modeling Industry!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow I would take them to the big apple but Uptown Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx. Now to eat i would go to city Island Gantry, Plaza state park in Long island city with the view of Manhattan and the attraction called the “Edge” in Manhattan. Check out the party boats at Chelsea pier. Club Pow is a poppin spot and always the 40/40 club. It’s NYC so trust and believe your going to have fun and not wanting to go back home lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I must say my mother: Atonia Pettiford Toombs and my Family, my squad Team Fearless Curves, Jpt Model mgmt, Everyone that contributed to the movement. lol there’s so many people to name but much love to all that really and truly helped me and stood by me. wolf love.!
