We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade The Ivy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jade The Ivy, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When faced with tough decisions as an artist, I’ve had to strike a balance between pursuing my passion and being realistic about moving forward. While there were moments when giving up seemed tempting, I reminded myself that creating is deeply ingrained in who I am. It’s not always easy, but I choose to keep moving forward because I believe in the value of my work. Striking a balance between passion and being realistic, I’ve learned to stay committed to my creative journey, even when obstacles arise. It’s about facing reality while staying true to my dreams, and I’m determined to keep pushing forward no matter what. However, I also acknowledge that I must be realistic about my dreams. If it’s in the cards to throw in the towel, I’ll cross that road if it comes. But for now, I’m focused on finishing what we started and giving my all to my artistic pursuits.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Now, speaking about my career trajectory, it’s been a diverse and evolving path marked by experimentation and growth. It all began with a foundation in poetry and storytelling, which gradually led me to explore other creative avenues, such as photography. However, it was an encounter with a client that introduced me to the world of hip-hop, sparking the genesis of my musical journey. From there, I embarked on the creation of my first mixtape, “Midnight Radio,” to the release of my debut album, “Euphoric Wasteland,” and my latest singles, each project carries with it a tapestry of memories and growth. “Midnight Radio” marked a pivotal moment in my exploration of rap, stemming from a chance encounter with a client who recognized my potential. It was a whirlwind of creativity and collaboration as I delved into the world of hip-hop, drawing inspiration from the late J Dilla and the soulful sounds of The Roots
Following the Success of “Midnight Radio” I started working on my debut album, “Euphoric Wasteland.” This project was deeply personal, and a labor of love, produced through beatboxing sessions with the band and infused with raw emotion and vulnerability. Tracks like “Breaking My Heart” became anthems resonating with audiences on a profound level. However, the recent  transition to solo work has not been without its challenges, as I faced the daunting task of rebuilding my sound and connecting with a new audience.
Amidst these challenges I found solace and inspiration in my latest singles including “Tribe ft B-LO,” “Fever,” and “Motiv8.” These songs represent a new chapter in my artistic journey, characterized by growth, experimentation. Collaborating with my producer Eversent has allowed me to explore new sonic territories while staying true to my roots. Each song tells a story of resilience, empowerment, and the unyielding pursuit of creative expression. As I look ahead to the future, I’m excited to share more music with my audience and continue pushing the boundaries of my artistry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had to show a friend a good time in the city… I’m a pescatarian so we would have to get some seafood. My favorite spots are the Atlanta Fish Market, The Optimist, and The Oceanaire. To be a tourist we gotta go to the aquarium and the Trap Museum. The nightlife a few of my favorite spots are Spaceman, Polaris, Bonfire ATL, MSR, and Esco Bar. You can’t come to Atlanta and not go to KOD, Onyx and/or Magic city. Additionally, we’d make sure to attend some events, such as a Kia Comedy show and The Coalition DJs’ New Music Mondays at the legendary Stankonia studios.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Lastly, I’d be remiss not to acknowledge the unsung heroes who contribute to Jade The Ivy and my journey from the visionary minds behind Milk Junk Store Media to the powerhouse vocalist Taylor Shan’e, whose talent knows no bounds. My Producer Eversent who puts blood sweat and tears into the music that you are hearing from me currently.  The dedication and passion behind my team doesn’t go unnoticed and I appreciate them more than they know.
