We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Renee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jade, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been obsessed with designing and channeling my inner creativity into visual art. Growing up, I’d always sneak on the computer to play with Microsoft Paint when my parents were sleep LOL. It’s always been my passion. Fast-forward to college at Tennessee State University where I graduated with a degree in Mass Communications because I thought I’d have a career in TV and Radio but while doing college radio shows, I’d be designing random things in Photoshop. Students in the Performing Arts Building would walk past me designing and ask if I could design their graduation invites. Once that happened, I realized I could get paid for my craft. I never thought it was a lucrative hobby until the entire school began wanting invitations. From there, I realized my craft was bigger than me. People liked my work! So with that opportunity, I decided to take a risk on myself and began a business as a designer as my entire family is entrepreneurs anyway. After announcing I had created an Agency, I made my first $100K in sales in less than 10 months. That changed my life forever. I then realized I wanted to design for everyone, especially other start up companies who needed help with branding. 10 years later, I’m still in business and still thriving. I’ve designed for companies all over America as well as The Bahamas, UK and more. I’ve been able to push my creative abilities in ways I’d never imagine and I’m so grateful for my creativity changing my life as well as my clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Luxx Media Group (originally named Infinite Graphix) has become a staple in my hometown as well as all over the world. We are a creative agency that works with powerhouse brands and start up companies who desire an impactful yet aesthetically pleasing brand presence. This is 10 years of hard work, dedication, intense focus and discipline. I spent my entire 20’s perfecting my craft and building my brand. It was and still is nowhere near easy. It’s HARD. It’s stressful and it’s a constant battle of pushing past my own limiting beliefs as a creative and as a business owner. But the rewards are so liberating, to see my clients happy with their brands and to also live a life I have no desire to escape from. It never feels like work because I truly love what I do. I’m constantly evolving the business while overcoming challenges. After 10 years in this industry, my biggest lesson thus far is to never give up and always be a forever student. I’m always learning new techniques, staying on top of trends and extending my knowledge as a designer and CEO. Yes, some days are harder than others but God always reminds me that my company is bigger than me. Luxx Media will continue to provide a quality branding experience while expanding to offer more services in the future such as photography and videography. The best is yet to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Detroit has tons to offer! I love visiting Campus Martius year round as it’s a beautifully placed in the heart of downtown. I enjoy going to our world famous art museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts. I spend a lot of personal time at our island, Belle Isle as it provides a peace of mind and it’s family friendly. We have a variety of amazing restaurants but I love Coney Island, some things just never change nor compare. I also enjoy walking the Detroit Riverfront in the morning as it continues to blow my mind that we are starring at Canada. I truly just love Detroit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d first like to give a shoutout to GOD. Because without the guidance, wisdom, grace and vision from God, I literally would be nothing and I believe the full credit for my success and creativity should go directly to The Source. And honestly, everyone along the way got me to where I am so shoutout to them as well. My family, especially my mother who’s been an entrepreneur for 25 years and my father who has dedicated majority of his years to being a life coach. My clients who continuously support me and allow me to grow in business. My supporters who are ride are die, they have watched this entire process since day one and everyone else from friends to employees. I’m so grateful for the support and love (and lack thereof) throughout my entrepreneurial journey.
