We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Poole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jade, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I originally got the idea for Prominent LLC. two years ago. I’d always wanted to work in the fashion industry but fear would get in the way. However, the idea of a brand specializing in oversized clothing and mental health awareness was always on my mind. I loved wearing oversized comfortable t-shirts and being able to dress them up or down; and with the recent passing of my grandmother who lost her battle with dementia, I decided there was no better time than the present to go for it. I chose to call the brand “prominent” because of the definition: important, projecting from, to catch attention. These things inspired the brand’s tagline “Step up. Step out. Step Into.” which encourages our customers to step up to challenges, step out of the box, and step into purpose.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets Prominent LLC. apart from other brands is providing high quality, trendy clothing that encourages having a positive mindset. We also plan to be involved within the local community through event hosting, clothing drives, and donating a percentage of sales to Dementia and Alzheimer’s nonprofits.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends were visiting Mobile I would definitely take them downtown. It is always a concert, art walk, or new food place to check out. Some of my favorite places to go to eat would be the Insider, Mary’s Southern Cooking, Juicy Seafood, and Spot of Tea. To hang out I would take them to Pat’s or Lucky’s these bars always have great vibes and drinks. I would also go to one of the beaches near the city such as Dauphin Island, Gulf Shores, or Pensacola Beach.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I have to give a shout-out to God for giving me the idea for the business and guiding me to the proper tools and resources I needed to get started. I also want to shout out my pastor, Vincent Robinson at Rightway Christian Center Church; and my mentors Mel Washington and Dinyell McNair, who continuously keep me on track and motivated. Lastly, I want to shout out to my family and friends who have supported and cheered me on throughout this process of starting my own business.
