We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Crosby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jade, what inspires you?
Inspiration comes to me in many different ways and truly, not a day goes by where I don’t find some sort of inspiration. First and foremost, I am always inspired by my amazing parents. Their determination instilled the courage in me to be creative, express myself, and pursue my dreams. When it comes to writing, whether that be song lyrics or poetry, I am inspired by the experiences I have received in my life. Whether the experiences are deemed as good or bad, I can always find the lesson and the beauty within a said situation which in turn, brings an overflow of inspiration. The changing of the seasons, good conversations with strangers, and life’s ebb and flow inspire me to write and perform.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to music, I really could not tell you what genre is my favorite or what I like to perform most. I enjoy all genres hence me being in a metal band while having pop/RnB original songs. As much as I love music, that isn’t the only medium of art I stick to. Whether it is music, movement, culinary arts, or acting, I am always expressing myself in different forms.

I am very excited to be starring as the character, Mia, in the film, Beyond the Shadows, written by the AMAZING, Shawn Brewer. I am also very excited to start playing live shows both with my band, Novum and with my own music. I truly believe all the work I have put into my goals is finally paying off and I am so grateful. I already feel like 2022 is a defining year for my career!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To me and to all of my friends, a good time is filled with good food. I would take them on the best Atlanta food tour starting with Slutty Vegan. We’d get all fancy and then go to Lucian Wine & Books for some vino and reading. We’d travel north to Duluth and get the BEST vegan sushi at Vegreen. Then we’d get some cinnamon rolls at Cinnaholic and call it a night with some cappuccinos at Cafe Intermezzo in Midtown!

Time to walk off all those calories, haha! I would make sure my friend is visiting in September during the annual Lantern Parade on the Beltline. That is one of my favorite things to do in the fall.

I would then bring them to Little Five Points because that is always a fun area to walk around. Then, of course, we would have to hit all the local venues in EAV, my favorite being Sabbath Brewing!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I cannot give a big enough shout out to my amazing parents, Joel & Ruby! They truly have always supported me in my dreams and no matter what I do, they are always there to support. I love them so much and I am so grateful to have them.

Second, I want to give a huge shout out to my band, Novum, and to my AMAZING bandmates, Gabe Ossa (Founder of Novum & Lead Guitarist/ Vocals), Nick Rye (Guitarist/ Vocals), and Noah Puryear (Drums). It is so awesome being able to jam out with them and they are the coolest and most supportive dudes ever.

Last, but certainly not least, my amazing friends Fardeen Sheikh and Carissa Lintao are always there supporting me and are the people with the shoulder I always have available to cry on if need be.
