We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqui Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacqui, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was I need something that is healthy and all natural and it actually works! The hair and skin products that are available in stores don’t work for my hair and skin. There’s too much alcohol in them. They dry my hair out. What I created adds and seals in moisture. Which allows my hair to grow and retain that growth.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One day I decided to stop using store bought products and make my own. I said “Hey, if these work for me, I’ll share them with others!” I’m allergic to most of what is on the shelves. Many of the favorite brands of body wash makes my skin itchy and dried out. The lotions soak right into my skin, leaving me dry and itchy. Hair products that claim to be moisturizing are full of alcohols that my hair absolutely hates! There’s soooo many different chemicals in everyday products. I don’t want to add them to my body. Skin is an organ. Everything we put on our skin goes into our bloodstream. My business journey has been smooth! People are supportive and take self care, hair care and skincare seriously. I’m grateful to every body that has benefited from my products. When overcoming challenges, take a beat, take a deep breath and call on God! Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with peace and patience. Nothing happens overnight. Enjoy the ride of your journey, the bumps and all! I’ve learned to stay authentic and humble. Stay true to yourself. I want the world to know that I am real! I am all natural, my products are all natural. When making my oil blend and body scrub, I set an intention of healing and love in every bottle. Lead with Love and Take Care of Yourself is my motto! 🥰
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not much of a planner. I’m a spontaneous girl. My favorite spots so far, since moving to ATL are Beetlecat, Red Phonebooth, Suite Lounge, Atlas, Garden Room, The Beltline, Acworth Beach, Metro Diner, to name a few.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my man. He inspires me and supports me while I follow my dreams. He reminds me that big dreams are worth going for. “High risk, high reward.” My son Storm, my mother, sister Jasmyn, brother Drew, my aunts Marsha and Kia. My family encourage me so much. Also my friend Pia. She speaks life into me. I am so blessed to have an outstanding support system. I thank God everyday for such profound Love.
