We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factors behind my success are my faith, the support of my family, in particular my loving husband who prays and pour encouraging words into me everyday and the love for and of our customers.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sweet Pearlz Cheesecakes is a woman-owned, family-operated, purpose-driven company. The company is named after my grandmother, Anna Pearl, who introduced me to baking as a young girl. She LOVED to bake pies! Sweet potato and peach cobbler were her favorites. Later on in life, I discovered my passion for baking. . .not pies but cheesecakes, my family’s favorite dessert.

We specialize in gourmet classic, vegan and gluten-free cheesecakes only. We offer over 25 flavors and 12 signature sauces. We will soon offer diabetic-friendly and low carb cheesecakes to meet the demand of our growing customer base. We also provide wedding, custom cheesecakes and “Create Your Own Cheesecake” dessert bars. Even though we do not ship, we are known to travel for our corporate clients’ special events.

I am most proud about our perseverance and our willingness to never give up and take on new challenges. I’m very excited about our growth, loyal and potential customer base and the ability to evolve and take cheesecakes to new levels of quality and presentation.

I am where I am today due to my faith, family, having mentors, a strong work ethic, and taking pride in doing everything in excellence.

Starting the business was the easy part. Learning how to balance family, business and self-care has been a challenge. To be honest, I am still a work in progress. I have come to learn it’s about progression and not perfection as long as I strive to be and do better in these areas.

I’ve learned many lessons throughout the years but the main lessons are to NEVER GIVE UP and to ALWAYS PAY IT FORWARD! I attribute this mindset to my first mentor, Danielle owner of Danielle’s Desserts in Northern VA.

We have become a trusted bakery for our clients and destination location in the Washington D.C. metro area for cheesecake lovers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, William Knight. He is my #1 supporter, encourager, prayer warrior, CFO, CMO and salesman, and I also have to mention…the man can cook!! He has been in my corner and in the kitchen with me since Sweet Pearlz Cheesecakes conception. We nicknamed him the “Sauce Man”. He gets all the credit for the wonderful sauces and compotes we sell.
