We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Riggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a blogger and content creator, my first thought was “I want free stuff too!” I would see fashion bloggers in nice outfits carrying Gucci purses and was told that Gucci gave them the purses for free. I thought that was baffling and completely unfair – I wanted a free Gucci purse!

Now, I love my business because I get to connect with people around the world every day. These people that I’ve met online have become my friends in real life. Getting to build relationships with people and inspire them through something you’re passionate about is a wonderful feeling.

I am also working on starting an Etsy shop selling customized apparel and accessories. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design so I’ve always been interested in the creative side of things. I’m saving for a wedding in June 2023, so I am persuing every income opportunity I see. Any sales made from my Etsy shop will be put towards my wedding savings.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a social media influencer and content creator. Instagram is my main platform but I also share on Pinterest and my own personal website (justjstylinlife.com). I share affordable everyday style and local/US travel and lifestyle. On my Instagram you’ll find outfit inspiration as well as the newest and best places to visit in Atlanta. I combine fashion and local travel to inspire my audience to buy or experience something they enjoy.

The journey was not and still is not easy. I don’t know if you can say that any growth or success is easy. Being an influencer and content creator takes so much more work than most people understand. You take on multiple roles that a business would otherwise have to hire separately. You are the photographer, the videographer, the model, the editor, the copywriter, the social media specialist and more. You just have to keep going and keep doing what you’re doing. Small progress adds up to big results. And you have to be open to learning and improving.

I’ve learned that if you keep going, results will come. I’ve gone through tough times where I felt like nothing I was doing had any impact or results. I remember trying to makes sales from the items I shared and for six months I made $0.00 – nothing. I was so defeated and felt like I’d never earn a penny. Fast forward about two years later and I have made over $500 just because I kept sharing and believing that one day results would come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
