We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacinda Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacinda, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?

The most significant choice I made, apart from venturing into entrepreneurship, was embracing my true self. You see, I’m an African-American woman with a charming Southern accent, and I proudly embrace my plus-size self. Letting my authentic self shine on stage and during interviews has been a game-changer for me. It has allowed me to forge genuine connections with my audience and, of course, my wonderful clients.

Being unapologetically myself has enabled me to build meaningful relationships with my clients. There’s something truly special about connecting on a personal level. When clients feel that connection and trust me, it opens the door to a world of referrals. Social media doesn’t come naturally to me, so I rely on these authentic relationships and connections to drive my business forward. It’s amazing how being yourself can lead to such incredible opportunities and success!

We have managed to grow Regal Legal Services by primarily building relationships. I will always take pride in that.

What should our readers know about your business?

Starting my own practice was honestly terrifying. I mean, corporate life had that comforting “job security” blanket, and here I was, about to take a leap of faith into the unknown. And to add a little extra drama to the mix, I’m doing it all as a single parent!

You know, when people talk about entrepreneurship, they make it sound all glamorous with the “big bucks” and flexible hours. But let’s get real for a second. It’s not all champagne and beach vacations. We need to have some seriously candid conversations about the long hours (sometimes feeling longer than a corporate day), those rollercoaster income swings, and the sheer exhaustion of juggling a thousand hats when you’re just starting out. It’s like being a one-person circus, and trust me, it’s not always as fun as it sounds!

What I’d really love the world to know about my journey is that I’m no genius, and I don’t have all the answers. But you know what? I am incredibly grateful for the lesson I’ve learned: it’s the discipline that has propelled me farther than any natural talent ever could and discipline can propel your dreams as well.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Oh, there are just too many fantastic spots to list them all, but here are some of my absolute favorites in the Atlanta area:

1. The Blu Rose Bistro in Douglasville, GA: It’s a perfect blend of art and delicious food – what more could you ask for?

2. Atlanta Breakfast Club: A must-visit for breakfast lovers! They have a great brunch too!

3. The Vortex: Known for its unique atmosphere and mouthwatering burgers.

4. Virgil’s Gullah: A hidden gem for those seeking authentic and flavorful cuisine.

5. Boogalou Restaurant and Bar is Always a go-to for a great meal and a good time. Unlimited mimosas for brunch.

6. The Bank: A unique dining experience you won’t forget. Get the crab and shrimp stuffed deviled eggs and thank me later.

7. Negril: For a taste of the Caribbean right in Atlanta. A club and restaurant in one.

8. Apt 4B: A cozy spot with fantastic food and vibes. Upscale Caribbean food. The Oxtail pasta will make you change your life.

9. Breakfast Boys: Because breakfast is the best meal of the day, right? Great food, amazing drinks and breakfast all day.

10. The Real Milk and Honey: Where comfort food meets southern hospitality. Drop your diet and get the honey biscuits.

And let’s not forget about all the fun things to do in Atlanta! From First Fridays at the High Museum of Art to customizing shoes at Doodle and taking candle-making classes at Crafted Creations, there’s always something exciting happening. Don’t miss out on the vibrant scenes at Ponce City Market, New Black Wall Street Market, and be sure to explore the eclectic shops and charming mom-and-pop experiences in Little 5 Points and Downtown Decatur. Atlanta truly has it all!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My very first closing under my own brand was thanks to Lashana Middleton. She was an incredible soul who believed in my brand and breathed life into it. Fast forward, and I’m now fortunate enough to work alongside her on her international real estate ventures. Lashana works her magic in both the States and Punta Cana through her esteemed brand, Paradigm Global.

I’m proud to be a part of her administrative team, and it’s been remarkable to witness her growth as an international real estate developer. Not to mention, she’s built a phenomenal team of over 100 agents who are making waves in the world of real estate in Punta Cana! 🌟
