We had the good fortune of connecting with J Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi J, how do you think about risk?
No risk no reward is a very true statement. We have to take risks and chances because from a different perspective those are the divine opportunities that the Most High has placed on our path for us to act on. See what we see as risks in life are actually just opportunities and steppingstones for us to receive what we desire and have asked for. It’s also opportunities for us to advance in life and accomplish the goals that we have set out for ourselves as we walk divinely in our purpose. 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I created SOUFSIDE ROYALTY a little over a year ago and for me it’s more than a brand. The influence behind my vision of Soufside Royalty is to creatively and boldly express what royalty feels like, looks like and is like in the minds, hearts and lives of melanated people with southern influences while telling stories of what I feel our true history is by creating designs and art digitally, and leaving dates and Names of figures in ancient history with titles to make you take a good look in the mirror and remember who you are. This is an idea and a mindset that I have always carried with me in life. All of lessons learned, challenges and experiences had put me on a path of finding one of my purposes in life and bringing my visions into reality. Being an entrepreneur and having my own are things that I have always planned not knowing exactly what it was going to be but ultimately doing something that found me, that I love, that serves a purpose and is going to change minds, hearts, visions, lives and the world. I was born in this era and time for a reason and now I know why. I chose to create and express through streetwear fashion and art because i was tired of seeing everybody do the same thing and just follow the trends. I came to be different, standout, create something new and really set the tone for the ages. Most are here to get noticed WE HERE TO BE REMEBERED. SOUFSIDE ROYALTY!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m going to be honest I love Atlanta, and this is my home but it’s not my ideal place to have fun. There is a lot to do but i feel that it’s not the most fun or exciting place for me to be. Now if you give me sunny blue skies, the ocean, the beach and some beach front restaurants now we are talking. Thats my type of vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most definitely shout out to the Most High Creator, my ancestors, and my team first and foremost I wouldn’t be me without them. Shout out to Ma dukes most definitely for bringing me into the world to SHINE. Shout out to all my people who been rocking with me from the start they know who they are! Big shout out to southern rap, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz and Soul, they have definitely been a big inspiration for me ever since I got my first CD player. Shout out Big Krit, Red coat The poet, Big Sant, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Al green just to name a few artists who have influenced, inspired and have also been the soundtrack to my life over the years. And shout out to the ones sent to walk with me and assist me on this journey through life I appreciate you all..
