Meet J Heems | Singer

We had the good fortune of connecting with J Heems and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J Heems, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a career as a creative because making music has made it easy for me to express myself and to connect with others. I wasn’t always the type of person who could open up to people. Once I realized I had a voice that people wanted to listen to, I took it and ran with it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from most is my organic vibe. Nowadays negative energy is what gets the most attention. I just want to promote love, ya know? Bring love into people’s households. Bring a smile to the ladies’ faces and normalize dancing and having fun. That’s what I’m all about. LOVE. I’m the person I am today because of the love that surrounded me throughout my life.
I’m the most excited about being heard by others and allowing other people to feel what I feel, through my music.
I’ve learned a lot over the last few years as an artist. Ive learned that you, and individual, have an impact on others. People are watching whatever you put on the internet, so make sure it’s something positive. You can influence so many people just by being your everyday self.
I want the world to know that there’s nothing but good vibes my way. Just positive energy all the way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not really the partying type so I don’t know too much about the clubs. I could definitely take my friends out on the town if they wanted to, though. Maybe a nice brunch spot like Rum Punch Brunch.
My friends and I are active so maybe we could hit up Piedmont Park to hoop or workout at the outside gym. If they were looking to spend some time outside in nature for some peace of mind, I would recommend the Roswell Mill Waterfall. I like to go there to get my mind right, get grounded and write some music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout this journey, I’ve had a strong support system in times I honestly needed them the most. From my heart, Vay, pushing me and telling me to keep pursuing my dream. And my brothers telling me “Aye, you have real life shot at this!” Honestly I’ve just been blessed with having good energy around me. The list can go on and on. But I just wanna say thanks to the people that do believe in me. Without love and support some stuff wouldn’t be possible.
