Meet Itala Del guercio | FOUNDER OF FACEART MAKEUP ACADEMY AND SPA

We had the good fortune of connecting with Itala Del guercio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Itala, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The dream of opening a makeup academy began with the need to support my Latin community in 2017. Since at that time there were no options for academies, so with the help of my husband I decided to open *faceArt make up Academy* It was a dream come true not only for me but for many and her love of makeup, to enhance beauty. Since then I am extremely proud to have trained more than 400 students in makeup techniques. I am so proud of each of my students who are still in the beauty industry today

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I arrived in this country, I brought with me a heart full of dreams and many goals to achieve.  One of my goals was not to let myself be defeated by a new language, I decided that I would give my makeup classes in my first language Spanish to support my Latino community.  I opened the doors to many make-up artists who had not yet mastered English and had great success for those who identified with the Spanish language.  Opening a Makeup Academy has not been easy but it has not been impossible either I have sacrificed too much to achieve the goal but I feel blessed to have the support of my husband who is my everything as well as people who believed in me unconditionally.  I can say that I have had 5 years of adventures, challenges and development and personal growth.  I feel blessed to have as students such wonderful human beings with such extraordinary talent and a burning desire to be successful and recognized in this country.  I admire them because every day they fight super hard to achieve thier goals. I love the way they are so passionate about the beauty Industry as me, I admire them so much.

I can say that this industry is very competitive but our academy is always at the forefront.  always updated with the trends so I can mention that day by day we provide a better service.  We also offer a spa area run by my husband Ariel.  We appreciate the support of our customers who follow us unconditionally.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta and its surroundings have many options to visit and to taste good food. I would definitely take her on a Monday morning to LAS AREPAS DE JULIA, a small Colombian home-style restaurant, located in the Lilburn area, where they prepare the best breakfasts and the best arepas .. we could have a little visit to the center of atlanta so that she knows a little about the beauty of this city .. it would take her to the world of coca cola . The aquarium , if she wants to go shopping at Lenox mall , for dinner at gypsi kitchen one of my favorite places in the buckhead area .. on a thursday night I would invite her to dance at the latin night of ECLIPSE DE LUNA , where you can enjoy salsa, merengue, bachata and all Latin music in general… and finally relax in our SPA facilities where you could receive some type of treatment for your face or your body.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
there are many people to thank for their support and for being part of this dream… but I want to dedicate this space to show my total gratitude to my husband ARIEL MONTOYA who has been my unconditional support throughout this journey, to my great friend KITXIA LARUMBE who has also accompanied and supported me since the beginning of this project and each of my students who have given me the confidence to be a guide in its beginnings, without them none of this would have been possible.
