We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business came from me first discovering and getting in tune with my long-term desires, goals, and vision. Following me just graduating college during the very beginning of the pandemic, I was unaware of where I exactly wanted to take my next steps. In my initial uncertainty, I began applying for my “dream” corporate jobs. However, because of the pandemic, I was being met with a flood of “Thank you for applying, but we are not currently hiring. We will keep your application on file for the future!” emails.

With these rejections, I came to the realization that I ultimately want to create my own road involving my own passions and desires. God as well as these rejections ultimately helped point me in the direction of my next steps. Yet, at the moment, I still was unsure what lane I specifically wanted to go down. I was conflicted. I majored in journalism but my heart was in video production and my creativity. With this uncertainty, I resorted to writing out a business plan to process my thoughts and further build my vision. I wrote down all of my gifts, skills, passions, goals, strengths, and weaknesses.

That is when it hit me. I realized I’m a visual storyteller. From writing, to my videography, to my photography, to my love for graphic creation; I love to tell stories by any means. In my creative process, I pay attention to every detail because I intend for every one of these details to be an element of the bigger story needing to be told. This is what birthed iLevel Visual Storytelling LLC. June of 2020 and I have never looked back since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am simply a storyteller by way of writing, video production, photography, and graphic creation. There were times where I spent an hour making just a simple video edit. This is because, when I work, I pay attention to every detail because I believe every detail has a role in telling a specific story. This is what sets me apart. I can produce captivating visuals but I intend for my work to have more substance, meaning, and impact. I want the viewer to feel emotion from my art. I want them to be immersed in all elements of it. With this mindset, I believe my creative passions and art can be effective in impacting lives.

I have gotten where I got today because I found my true passion and gifts. When you find your true gifts and passions, you sort of find a compass to navigate the direction of your life. It’s kind of like a never ending fire inside of you that can be used to withstand the challenges and obstacles ahead. Being an entrepreneur truly gets difficult at times. You have so much to balance and plan out. For your business to have longevity, you have to be strategic in every aspect of it. Staying in alliance with your true passion is the fuel needed to go down this road and keep you pushing even when things get tough because that is inevitable.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are endless but the most important one is to embrace adversity and learn from all mistakes. With every project, every experience, I look at it at the end and reflect on what I could’ve done better. This may sound cliche but this Is what ensures that you are steadily moving upwardly instead of laterally.

My brand will change the world. I have high hopes and aspirations and I ultimately desire for my brand to impact many lives in a positive way. There is so much negativity in the world and in a society turning more and more virtual, visual storytelling is essential and a powerfully growing tool. My brand also delivers exceptional service. I have been blessed to work with amazing people and business such as Steve & Marjorie Harvey, Mayors and other political figures, rappers, celebrities, influencers, popular Atlanta restaurant chains, international pageants, amongst many others. However, its important to note that the reason I have been able to do this is because of my exceptional service. I want people to feel special and comfortable when we work together. People will never forget how you made them feel.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a chill guy so I like the low-key gems. For example, I enjoy parks such as Piedmont Park and their scenic views. I also love the Atlanta Beltline. One of my favorite past-times is riding the scooters or bikes down the beltline and at Piedmont Park. I’m a huge sports fan so I would love to add an Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta United, or Atlanta Falcons (If they’re acting right) game to the itinerary. I lastly like to have fun and be competitive so Putt-shack, Top-Golf, Andretti’s, Bowling, etc. would be a cool go to as well. Atlanta is a dope city so I would also probably take them on a tour. The best scenic driving route is Peachtree of course so I would start from downtown and take it all the way out to Buckhead.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, God is the ultimate reason for my success. Over these past few years, I came to truly appreciate every detail in which He created me because I came to the realize that every aspect of myself equips me to carry out everything that I was put on this earth to do. I truly believe my God-given strengths as well as weaknesses that I strive to grow from have all built the framework for my purpose.

Next is my family. My mother has always pushed me and my sister to be great. She has been extremely supportive and words cannot describe the appreciation I have for her. My older sister, blazed trails before me since I was a child and always set the blueprint of success for me to follow. My Grandmother has provided the love and the support and blueprint needed for my success as well. My aunt and uncle have been there incessantly. I would not be where I am without all of my family members.

My friends and college family deserve a lot of recognition too. From my Zeta Pi brothers to all of my good friends, advisors, and teachers, I always felt love and support and that is something I will never forget.

My goal is work hard so that I can one day give back 10 fold all the support that was given to me from everyone. That is one of my many inspirations.
