We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabella Cormier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabella, what do you attribute your success to?
My brand is dependent on people who love animals just as much as I do. I have built my brand by simply getting to know my local pet community. Whether that my be the cat dads or dog moms of ATL. I love hearing about the joy my clients receive from their furry, feathery, or scaly friends. When a client adds extra details like a pet’s favorite toy or treats into a painting it adds a special moment to that piece. Incart Pet Portraits is dependent on my ability to further my skill in painting as well to capture each pet as best according to their personality as possible. I would have to say the what really drives my brand is a simple word of mouth recommendation. I have gotten several amazing clients from people simply posting or showing of my work!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been an artist since I could hold a crayon. I have always had a need to create and develop. I had took art until my senior year of high-school, focusing my portfolio on people and animals. During that time it was more of a hobby than a business. I had received a commission in high school for a boxer that was very dear to a woman and when she received her portrait she said it made her feel as if she had a memory of her dog. I loved that I was able to give her happiness and comfort for a pet she had loved so much. From high-school to now I have been building a brand that connects me to people who are looking for a fun way to capture their pets. Since then I have developed my brand, Incart Pet Portraits to combine the arts and the pet community in a fun exciting way. I use acrylics to capture every different aspect of a pet whether that is a bright blue eyed Husky or a pink nosed Maine Coon. In my career I have painted several golden doodles, pitbulls, orange kitties, pigs, birds, and even a flying squirrel. I love to capture the personality of a pet by listening to my clients stories and memories of them. Whether I am painting a wooden keepsake or on canvas making sure that the pet’s personality is in the essence of that painting is always my driving goal.

As a full-time student, part-time worker for Henry County, and part-time artist, there are times where it feels like I have too much on my plate. Thankfully, I have an amazing family support that helps me when I start feeling overwhelmed. There has been a couple times where I have had to dedicate the weekend to finishing orders. But when you love something, its worth it. When I get back photos of peoples pet’s next to their art, that feeling is pure joy. I love what I do and the feelings that I ignite with my work. Being a student in UX/UI, I find a way to use the same principles I learn to create a brand that people will find joy in. I am passionate about understanding what people are thinking and feeling when they come across my pet portrait shop. I am currently working on building my website and social media presence and it is amazing to see my local community reach out to me. I have a shop on Etsy as well but so far most of my sales have been from talking with others only to find out they have amazing pets of their own and it kind of snowballs from there. A lot of people will show their friends and family my work and that is another way my brand grows which is so incredible that people are sharing my work so proudly to others.
I hope that Incart Pet Portraits can grow into a brand that I will be able to give back more to the Atlanta animal community.
I also wanted to give a shoutout to the Atlanta Humane Society for all your hard work in our Atlanta community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has such an amazing variety of things to do and rich in culture and history. I would take the time to visit the some of our most beloved attractions such as the World of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, the Museums of Puppetry Arts, the Atlanta Zoo and the High Museum of Art. For all the pervious mentions I would give at least one day for each. For a shopping day Ponce City Market will have some of the best food and shopping for everyone. As an outdoor person myself, we have the amazing Piedmont Park to walk thorough and for all dog lovers, Fetch Park is a great place to let your pup play and to meet other dog lovers. One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta is No Mas! Cantina. There fajitas are freshly made with a delicious corn tortilla. Some hidden gems would have to be the Michael C. Carlos Museum in the Emory campus and the Starlight Drive in Theatre with a your favorite candy and popcorn.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give thanks to my mom and brother for being my leading support whether it’s taking photos for my website or helping ribbon and varnish my art, they are always willing to help me. I love them so much and they help encourage me each day in all aspects of my artistic journey. I would also like to thank the Henry County Master Gardeners for helping my business take off and for their help in marketing my pet portraits. Thank you Carole for letting me be a vendor! Also I want to thank my friends for always sharing on Instagram and showing my work to their friends and family, it means so much to me. I would also like to thank my other business partner/model my kitty, Misty, for being my inspiration and little helper.
