We had the good fortune of connecting with Irene Tyndale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Irene, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my coaching business and the Becoming the Business Retreat for Wedding Planners came from a mix of personal experience and divine inspiration. Early in my career, I realized that while planning events came naturally to me, learning how to run a business and grow as a CEO was a completely different challenge. I often felt overwhelmed and unsure of how to scale my business while staying true to my purpose.

The turning point came in Spring 2021, when I was coaching planners 1:1. Many expressed frustration about the business side of their businesses—things like pricing, marketing, and operational strategies. During this time, I felt a clear message from God to create something bigger: a space where planners could come together to not only learn the business skills they needed but also find community and support. That’s when the idea for the Becoming the Business Retreat was born.

The retreat was designed to help wedding planners at every stage of their business journey evolve into confident, empowered CEOs. Drawing inspiration from Michelle Obama’s quote about “becoming” being a continual process, the retreat became a place where planners could focus on their growth, learn practical tools, and connect with like-minded professionals who truly understood their struggles.

It’s been amazing to see how this has blossomed—not just as a retreat, but as a movement to elevate wedding planners and create a ripple effect of excellence in the industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is rooted in helping wedding planners grow into confident, empowered CEOs who can run sustainable and thriving businesses. Through my coaching programs, online education platform, and the Becoming the Business Retreat for Wedding Planners, I equip planners with the tools, strategies, and mindset shifts they need to succeed. What sets my brand apart is our deep commitment to fostering community and providing answers you won’t find on Google, YouTube, or free summits. We create a safe space for planners to learn, ask questions, and feel seen and supported at every stage of their journey.

What I’m most proud of is the transformation I see in the planners I work with. Hearing their stories of increased confidence, better systems, and breakthrough moments is what excites me most. The Becoming the Business Retreat has become a movement—helping planners step into their purpose and evolve not just as business owners but as individuals.

Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. Early in my career, I discovered that while I excelled in planning events, learning to run a business was a completely different challenge. I faced struggles with pricing, marketing, and figuring out how to scale without burning out. But each challenge taught me valuable lessons. I invested in coaching, sought mentorship, and leaned into my faith, trusting that the vision God gave me would guide me through.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth is a journey, not a destination. You must embrace the process and not shy away from investing in yourself—whether that’s through education, mentorship, or even rest. Building systems, creating boundaries, and staying focused on my “why” have been key to sustaining and growing my business.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I am here to serve wedding planners. I know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming this journey can feel, and that’s why I’ve built a business centered on empowering others. I believe in walking alongside planners to help them thrive, not just survive, and to show them that success is not just possible—it’s within reach. Through our programs and events, I hope to leave a legacy of excellence, encouragement, and faith in the wedding industry.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! My journey wouldn’t be where it is today without the incredible people, communities, and resources that have supported me along the way. First and foremost, I have to shout out the Wedding Planners I am called to walk this journey of entrepreneurship with. They inspire me every day with their resilience, creativity, and passion for what they do. They’ve trusted me to guide them, and that trust fuels my purpose.

I also want to recognize my family, especially my husband, Duane, who has been my biggest cheerleader from day one. His unwavering support and belief in my vision have been a constant source of strength. My children, too, remind me every day why I’m doing this—to show them what’s possible when you pursue your purpose with faith and hard work.

Additionally, I owe so much to the mentors and coaches I’ve had over the years who helped me navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship. Investing in myself through coaching and education—like working with Margurite Presely-Davis early on—was transformative in helping me map out my vision.

Finally, I want to thank the planners and speakers who’ve poured into the Becoming the Business Retreat for Wedding Planners. Their contributions, whether as attendees or presenters, have elevated this community into a place where planners feel empowered to grow personally and professionally. It truly takes a village, and I’m so grateful for mine!
