We had the good fortune of connecting with India Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi India, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well to be honest the premise for my company all started out with me. My skin was so sensitive that I could only use the dove brand sensitive soap and at the time I really wanted to use items that smelled good or soaps that helped with certain irritations that I was having. Once I started making my own soaps and body butters I found that my skin was drastically improving and I decided to give them as gifts to family members. After some time their skin also was improving and had an amazing glow. I then found out that my products were helping many others that were having the same skin irritations that I was having and I decided then to go into business to help others not just improve their skin but to give them overall confidence in the skin that they’re in.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Blendia by India was always founded on unique skin care. I’ve always loved to stay unique in so many ways when it comes to making my products. That includes making products from snakeskin all the way to your favorite whiskey. Everything has a purpose and everything has different properties that can be extracted to use for the body. It’s all about how you extract those ingredients out. This journey of being so unique was definitely not easy but I stayed true to myself and I stay true to my brand and with that being said I finally have my support team. And this is truly an honor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I am not a party girl. I’m always so busy so when I get a chance to relax and enjoy the scenery that’s what I do. I would probably take her to one of my favorite bars downtown LIT Cigar Lounge and have a cigar, some good drinks and great conversation. If it’s the summertime we are definitely having a crawfish boil at the house with a few friends and family or just the girls. I also love the water so any activity near it would be ideal for me as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There were so many people that helped me get to where I am today. From sharing my post to purchasing our products. But the people that kept pushing me the most was definitely my mother and my brother Malcolm. My best support system also comes from the love of my life. Without those three having my back and being there for all my decisions I really would not know where I would be today.
