We had the good fortune of connecting with Howard Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Howard, why did you pursue a creative career?
I really don’t think I had choice on whether not I could pursue a creative career, lol. Art has always been a major part of my life, so it was inevitable.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently I am a Creative Director in the music industry. I help artist create the visuals that represent their music, whether it be a photoshoot, album cover, music video or full campaign, I assist in bringing it to life. I think what may set me apart from others is that I’m well rounded both with physical art and digital art. I’ve done pretty much everything on the creative side hands on. If I had to pick a project that I was most proud of it would have to be 2 Chainz Pretty Girls Love Trap Music album campaign. I feel like that campaign had to make history, lol… at least in Atlanta. I think everybody knew about the “Pink Traphouse”. I think I got to where I am professionally by seizing my opportunities. I’ve always had talent and I was blessed to be able to meet people who like and respect my work. That and I’m literally almost always working! I had to sacrifice a lot sleep to get here. It wasn’t easy, but I feel like SCAD prepped me well. I feel like the biggest thing I’ve learned in my journey is that you have to make the best of your opportunities, because you never know where it can lead.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t really go out much now but when I did I liked places like: The Painted Duck, The Battery and Ponce City Market. Of course I’d take them to Street Execs Studios. Most my visitors want to see where I work lol. We would eat at Breakfast at Barney’s, Plated Pleasures, JJ’s, Juicy Crab, American Deli, and maybe Magic City.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt I have to shoutout my Street Execs family. From Opportunities to support, they have helped me get to this point in my career.
