We had the good fortune of connecting with Horace Glapser and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Horace, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m most inspired by leaving a legacy. Something that my kids can look up to and be inspired by. Every time I leave my mark on anything, it will be felt by generations to come. I know my legacy will last a life time. That is what inspires me and keeps me going.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My originality and not being afraid to be me is what sets me apart from others. I’m most proud of starting from being a comedian and able to expand my craft. Crossing over to stage plays, tv shows and a writer. First, I could not be here without God. Late nights and very early mornings. With lots of prayers, perseverance and dedication. Was not easy. It was a consistent grind. Never took no for a final answer. Reminded myself of my dreams, kept fighting for whom I wanted to be. I’m still writing my story. I still have a lot more to do as a man and as an artist. More mountains to climb and valleys to conquer. The world has not seen the best of Horace Glasper.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is known for a great night life. I would take my best friend to Blue Flam or the Red Martini. Harold Ice Bar on Old National in Collage Park, GA. Can’t forget a cigar lounge like The Patio Social Club. Check out a comedy show at the Atlanta Comedy Theater. U Bar for some drinks. Finish it courtside Hawks Game.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mentors Reed Mccants and Neema Barnette for the love and continues support over the years. My great friend comedian Big JJ for the years in front and behind the cameras. Brandon T Jackson, for discovering me in Chicago and giving me a chance in Hollywood, CA. For my brother Isiah Kelly. Thank you for the years of grind that are now paying of for the both of us.
