We had the good fortune of connecting with Hope Cross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hope, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I left my career to become a full-time caregiver, and that experience changed me. When I returned to being a mental health counselor, I realized how much support was missing for people in that role. During my caregiving years, I couldn’t find anyone who truly understood the depth, the overwhelm, the emotional and physical toll of it all. That really stayed with me. So when I came back to this work, I knew I wanted to create the kind of support I had needed something that truly honors the complexity of caregiving, grief, and the anxiety that often comes with both. That’s what inspired me to start my own practice. I wanted to offer a space that’s rooted in lived experience, where people feel seen, held, and reminded that they’re not alone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an artist in many ways. I became a painter while I was a caregiver, as a way to move through the stress and intensity of what I was living. Over time, I started creating zines with my writing and art, little reflections of what I was processing. But being an artist isn’t just about visual art for me anymore. It’s in how I design in-person experiences for therapy, how I turn pain into meaningful content, and how I hold space for others to access their own creativity as a way of healing. Art has become the way I alchemize life through images, through words, and through spaces that invite people back to themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the East Palisades and Westside Park to show them that Atlanta is the city in the forest. We would ride bikes on the West End Connector to Pittsburgh yards beltline. We would eat at Beatlecat and watch DJ sourceone at the forth rooftop and end things on the roof of my loft because there’s nothing better than having your own city view.
