We had the good fortune of connecting with Hollye Dinkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hollye, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At the time when I started my business, I was a single mother serving on active duty in the US Air Force. I was not receiving support or help from my daughter’s father and I wanted to make up the difference. I found it very easy to start a business with Paparazzi Accessories, as it didn’t cost me hundreds or thousands of dollars, only a $99 investment.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my business, Zhoey’s Bling Boutique, named after my daughter in 2018, to promote a product I was already wearing. I quickly found out that selling jewelry could supplement the child support I was not receiving. I was also creating generational wealth and fostering entrepreneurship for my daughter all while teaching her how to create a multiple stream of income. I am an Independent Paparazzi Consultant. I sell amazing five-dollar jewelry for men, women, and children and the price point doesn’t change. I found that starting this business did not take hundreds and thousands of dollars, only a $99 investment. The jewelry is what I sell, however, it’s bigger than that. Jewelry is a bridge builder to amazing people with creative and diverse lives. My goal is to build relationships and jewelry is just the icing on the cake. When I initially started my business, I had no idea what I was doing or what I was getting myself into. However, with great mentors and leaders in the business, I began to grow. I started my business, and I had some challenges. I quickly found that I was my biggest challenge. I found my fears, being told “no”, and at one time a saturated market of other consultants were roadblocks, BUT I did not stop. I had to make it up in my mind to keep going, and there is only one Hollye and one Zhoey’s Bling Boutique. I provide a great product, impeccable customer service, and build relationships with my customers. There have been many lessons along this journey, and one is not everyone will support you, or go with you on your journey. Customers and teammates will come and go but remain true to your “why” and how far you’ve come. If a single mother in active-duty Air Force can start a business, anyone can. I have since retired from the Air Force and have an amazing husband who now partners with me in working on my business. Zhoey’s Bling Boutique has a HUGE inventory with a diverse selection of jewelry for everyone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the middle Georgia area, Warner Robins, GA which is about 30 minutes from Macon and an hour and a half from Atlanta. My best friend knows I’m a country girl from North Georgia who loves a good time and an individual who takes pride in family, friends, and fellowship. As a 21-year veteran in the Air Force, I would show my best friend a glimpse of what my life was like before I retired in 2020. I would take them on a tour of the base and the Museum of Aviation. Next, we would travel to Macon to see the Tubman Museum and Baseball Hall of Fame. We would eat at one of the local restaurants, Natalia’s which serves amazing Italian food. Next, we would go to Fort Valley, Georgia to visit the infamous Fort Valley State University, a Historical Black College and University. The best place to eat in Fort Valley is at my mother-in-love’s house, Ludell Dinkins. On my friend’s last day, I would take them to Atlanta to check out one of my favorite restaurants, Oceanaire, as well as check out the nightlife scene.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I would like to thank God, for without him nothing is possible. I would like to thank my husband and my daughter for their unwavering love and support. I also would like to thank The CG Effect and owner, Chundrayvia Gill, for nominating me for this interview and assisting me with rebranding my business.  I am so grateful for my mentor in the business, Latosha Evans. Lastly, all of my customers, you all have been there from the beginning in 2018 when I first started my business. I am truly grateful.
