Hi Henry, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My first thought was if I open up my own business I can leave my kids something. Finding a job won’t be so hard on them , and they will have something to fall back on if anything goes wrong. I want generational wealth for my family. I want On Thee Go Construction to be around for generations. Growing up all I ever saw was other race’s working in the construction fields but never anyone that looked like me. Never saw anyine my color do any building, operating heavy equipment, or wearing those bright orange and yellow safety vest. I told my lady my vision and she saw it as well. She started doing the paperwork and I began to do the leg work. We’ve put God first and let our faith open up every door for us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well back in my home town “Flint, MI” I don’t really do much there only because it’s not the same. Everything has went down. You have your clubs your bars your kick back spots but none of those places are were you would catch me. So we definitely would go to Detroit to have some fun. Maybe stop by J.Alexanders for some good food. Go to top golf in great lakes and hit Downtown strip to see the beautiful people and hit some bars or casinos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes.!!! Wow I would dedicate this shoutout to God first. Then my loving mother and father. My father said to me “if you say your going to do it, you best do it son your word means everything in this world.” My mother always told me since a young boy that “I didnt have you for failure.” Anytime I got myself into something she would always tell me that. It was hard to understand it then but now I comprehend it so well. So every day I get up and give 100 percent to everything that I said I was going to do. Napoleon Hill “think and grow rich” also inspired me to change my ways. His self help book helped me to reprogram my mind and do some self reflecting. My lady Shiatoia plays a huge part in my everyday life. The encouragement, support and love that I get from this young lady is out of this world. I’m so grateful for a partner like her.
