We had the good fortune of connecting with Hemmingw8y and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hemmingw8y, how do you think about risk?
Risk Taking is a very important part of my career as an artist. Although some of my biggest mistakes turned into lessons have come from Risks, I can say that my biggest triumphs have come from the same. You never know what’s going to happen until you actually take the leap.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My Art isn’t just Art to me…Its Therapy. Music is a universal language for all, and I try to make my music as relatable as possible. Although is Melodic R&B/Neo soul Music it has so many elements of my life hidden within it. I’m very excited about the preparation of my sophomore project “Hoetel Hertbr8k”. I’ve been holding on to this one for a while but I’ve finally had the right team and plan to present a really solid body of work. Getting to this point has been an absolute battle but it’s one I wouldn’t trade for the world. I’ve made a lot of decisions that have unfortunately produced more hard lessons but also built tough skin that will help in the long run. The only way to get passed all the hardships is to go through them. None of it was easy but it showed me how bad I truly want this to be my career and not just a hobby. I’ve learned that showing up is only Half the battle and a fraction of the audience. he works is done even when you aren’t in front of the mic. I want the world to know and understand that it’s okay to fall in love with music on your own accord. Media drives the taste buds for those that didn’t even take the time out to stomach it on their own.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a Foodie so when my friends are in town my first question is always “You Hungry?”. Cafe Hot wing off Tara Blvd is such a hidden gem. The drink specials are insane, food is great, and the environment is so chill. I definitely can’t forget the Bando off MLK. They have the best wings in the city. Hopefully they come in town on a week where we can catch First Friday at The High Musem. The vibes are immaculate, It’s the perfect reason to dress up, and the DJs are always top tier. Speaking of DJs an FKA party with my friends would be the icing on the cake. Multiple DJs, Drinks, and fun. I could go on and on, but this is just a few.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t narrow my shout out down to one person. I can say this because it takes a village to build up the brand and for me it definitely was a village. From my mom, Mars, To Lady C, Jag, Dami, Ant, The Hemmibaes , Major, Sterling, boots, Jeda, and so many more. I didn’t and don’t do this alone.
