We had the good fortune of connecting with Heaven Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heaven, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I initially wanted to start a non profit org to decrease the minority prison population. My first event I had a silent auction to donate laptops and books to college kids. Once I seen everything that went into running a successful organization and working full time ate Chase bank I knew I had to go into business for myself. I needed money in order to evoke change in my community. With the same theme of helping people, I launched my consulting company Heaven Solutions.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have a finance firm I help people just like you repair their credit, buy a home and start a business. We specialize in business funding for start ups and first time home buyers. Our company is dedicated to the middle market where many are over looked or passed up for home ownership and entrepreneurship. I am most excited about the many homeowners who I walked through the process of owning a home, Harriet Tubman of home ownership. Showing the way after I purchased my first home at 25 years young. Over the last 4 years in business I was able to accumulate close to 1 million in assets due to my willingness to learn the game and execute. It wasn’t easy nor was it super hard. I tell my younger folks all the time all you have to do is listen to older people or someone thats doing what your doing. I simply was humble enough to watch and learn. I also read many books. The lesson I learned along the way is that when God gives you a vision it will come to pass. Find peace in your life so that you can focus on your vision and it can stay clear. I want the world to know about my brand, my story and testimony is that I never doubted God. Even when it got hard, I turned grit and passion into many achievements. I allow God to be the leader, motivator and score keeper for everything I do in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First we would go for breakfast at my favorite spot Amaris, its a small cafe with paintings of famous black leaders/icons on the walls. I love the fish and grits or shrimp and grits. This is a down home feel but I love supporting my own and they have the best food. We then would check out some of the local parks I love a view. I am more a peaceful vibe person I don’t go out or party much so our time. would be dedicated to how we feel. A lot of green scenery and of course shopping. I die for a mall. I believe no one place is special. You bring the vibes wherever you go. I do not like to do many things twice, so this would be a week of first times for us both.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my school Delaware State University without the instruction, world experiences, leadership and dedication to black excellence I wouldn’t be were I am today. A black college experience is what set me apart from many of my fellow entrepreneurs because I was breed different. We were allotted so many resources at school, even for my marketing I still use the same guy I did from college.
