Hi Hanyuan, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by film, art movement, book, local culture…

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe my art is influenced by personal experiences and diverse cultures, which makes me unique in my creative process. For an artist, the process of creation is more exciting than the outcome, as creating art is like conducting an experiment, exploring along the way. Despite not knowing the exact result, there are always unexpected surprises. My journey in art has not been smooth sailing. Before engaging in free creation, I spent 12 years studying and researching art theory, which laid the foundation for my subsequent work. Along the path of my artistic journey, there were many voices telling me not to choose art as a career. Initially, this troubled me, but my passion for art never waned. Therefore, I believe that interest is the best motivation. With interest and passion, regardless of the temptations and difficulties ahead, I can stay true to my original intentions and persevere.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ll show my friends around our region’s historical and cultural spots like old buildings and museums. We’ll also take a peaceful walk in Forsyth Park to enjoy nature. Then, in the evening, we’ll head to River Street for a beautiful view of the river. And for food, we’ll go to the Olde Pink House to try some local dishes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am deeply grateful to my family and friends, whose support has been a constant source of strength and encouragement throughout my journey of growth. Additionally, I express my appreciation to my professors for their invaluable guidance, mentorship, and dedication to nurturing my growth and academic development.
