We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Tinnell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The phrase “no one could use less encouragement” really shapes the way I run my business. In a world where we can be so self-focused, my goal as a photographer is to serve others, to make them feel seen and beautiful, and to provide them with images that capture memories that last them a life time. I hope that through small acts of kindness and serving others, my business inspires others to encourage those around them more and serve anyone and everyone they can in whatever capacity they can.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The main goal of my photography is to capture your memories so you can relive them forever. I believe I am set apart in that I don’t want to just create the photo you would find on pinterest – I want to authentically capture your moments for what they are so you can truly re-experience all the feelings from your most celebratory days of your life. I am honestly most proud of that after clients receive their photos from me, the feedback I receive is always aligned with my vision, so I am so glad that I am actually accomplishing what I set out to do.
I started out in spring 2017 as a sophomore in high school taking photos for any friends or family that would let me. I would do senior photos, couples photos, family photos – anything I could get my hands on. I got to second shoot my first wedding in Summer of 2018, which is where I discovered my love for wedding photography. In the meantime, I continued senior photos mainly and went to college in fall of 2019. I didn’t do many photos my freshman year, but summer 2020 I interned with Savanna Brown and got to second shoot numerous weddings and gain so much knowledge working alongside her. In 2021, I booked my first wedding, which turned into a total of 3 weddings in 2021. Business started to pick up from there and in 2022 I did 15 weddings, and in 2023 I did 30 weddings (17 of which were travel!) and went full time after graduating college. Now, I am full time in photography, mainly focused on Georgia weddings, seniors, and couples, but I still travel occassionally. I would want the world to know about my story that it was not easy at all – in the process I made many mistakes, traveled all over the states and wore myself out, but I would not change it for anything. It did not happen even close to overnight, but once it happened, all the challenges became so worth it. Along the way, I have learned that photos are not the most important part of photography, but rather the connections you build with people through the way you serve them – that is what lasts.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m super biased towards Alpharetta, GA – it’s always been my favorite spot! My husband and I are very passionate about holistic health (currently starting a second business with that, Hannah Dawn Wellness), so our day is probably a bit different than others. To start the day, I’d wake up early, watch the sunrise, and do my morning routine (with a high protein breakfast of course). Then, we would head over to Valor Coffee and walk around the farmers market. After that, we would do a fun outdoor activity like riding bikes or pickleball, until we are hungry and go grab lunch at True Food Kitchen. Then we would walk around Avalon and do some grocery shopping at Whole Foods, then head home and hang out by the pool for a bit. Eventually, we could go out to a nice steak dinner somewhere like J Michaels Prime or STK Atlanta, and end off the night with gluten & dairy free gelato from Amorino or 2B whole gluten free bakery, ending with a nice early bedtime of 9:30pm!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people I would love to shoutout! Savanna Brown always comes to mind specifically when it comes to my photography business because she took me under her wing and taught me so much that I would’ve never learned without her. She put me in positions to learn and grow and encouraged me into a higher calling because she believed in me so much – I wouldn’t be where I am today without her! I also want to shout out my husband for being so extremely supportive not only through words but through actions since the moment he met me, whether that has been traveling hours on end in his free time to second shoot weddings with me, taking the leap of supporting me going full time straight out of college, and being there to talk me through every business situation. Finally, I want to shout out my family for always supporting me, believing in me, and telling people about the work I do!
