Meet Hannah Job | Brand Owner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Job and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Originally I’m from here in Atlanta, but for the most part I was raised in a small farming town in Pendleton, SC. My grandparents had a farm there where my grandad bred and raised horses, so when we moved we bought some of the farmland and built a house up the road from them.
Living on a farm and in an area that rural gave me the space to get creative with how I spent my time, and a lot of that time was spent with my grandad in his shed. Between handing him tools and holding flashlights to help him restore his old cars I was also chaotically nailing scrap wood together, drawing pictures in saw dust or pulling out all his nice oil paints. My grandad was a talented painter, he was constantly saving pieces of plywood for my sister and I to paint on, which really was just us slapping paint anywhere there was open space, and after it dried he would add his touch to make it something any of us would be proud to hang in our homes.
Many people taught me the value of being curious and the importance of having a creative outlet, but my grandad is the person I always think of when I’m asked how I’ve found myself in these creative positions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a lot of moments where I feel like I’m still finding my creative identity, and overall I’m okay with that. Usually for me what that means is I’m feeling like I still need to explore and try out new techniques or new things all together. So my work and my process is constantly evolving and I think that’s the best way to discover yourself.
I do pull a lot of inspiration from past eras and movements, that seems to always be a constant. I have my undergraduate degree in architecture and that’s led me to learning about the Bauhaus movement and 20th century radical art. The boldness of modernism and avant-garde artists in the early 1900’s are big graphic inspirations of mine. I think statements, and art in some cases, are most powerful when they’re simple and direct and I think you can see how those ideals have impacted me and influenced my work.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve officially been living in Atlanta for 2 years so I feel like I’m still learning the city myself, however, I do have my favorite spots.
First I would run through my favorite neighborhoods with them. When someone’s asking me how I like Atlanta I tell them one of my favorite things about the city is how it’s divided up into neighborhoods, there’s a different feel to each neighborhood and it keeps things interesting. I’m often in Cabbagetown, East Atlanta, Old Fourth Ward, Summerhill, Inman Park or Grant Park.
If I was planning out a whole week I’d be going to eat at Staplehouse, Gaja, Banshee, A Mano, Talat Market, Ticonderoga Club, Northern China Eatery, Kitty Dare, 8Arm, or Gunshow (maybe I know more places than I thought, lol.)
For a drink my places are 97 Estoria, Gaja, The Righteous Room, Halfway Crooks, Wonderkid, The Deer and The Dove (they have an excellent gin fizz), Church Bar and Staplehouse.
For a late night bar with a great menu I’d go to Octopus Bar or Ok Yaki.
As far as things to do around the city I’ve made a habit out of following Georgia Vintage Goods and their pop-up vintage markets. Honestly I’ve made a habit out of going thrifting and antiquing in general, Atlanta has some great spots. I also keep an eye on ABV Gallery and Atlanta Contemporary Art Center to see what exhibits they have going on and coming up.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve had so many people along the way help me out, it would be impossible to name a single person or group. This shoutout is dedicated to any person who has listened to me ramble on about an idea I’ve had. And to all the people I haven’t met yet who will do the same.
