We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Continuous learning! Staying updated on industry trends and best practices. Goal setting and time management are also two really important habits that help me continue to grow as a photographer. Self care is also a big personal habit. I feel like physical and mental well-being during every season but especially during busy season is critical for your creative mind.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from other photographers is I tend to not be as focused on selling my clients a product. I am more focused on the quality of the product as a whole. I am not saying that other photographers shouldn’t do that or market themselves to sell their photos. However, for me I would rather put that extra time and effort into continuing to learn and grow as a photographer. I work full time as a healthcare worker so it can be challenging keeping up with social media trends, filming content, and networking. It is not easy being a part time photographer but I do it because I love it. I’ve learned that time management is critical and comparison is the thief of joy. Your work and art is one of a kind because you are one of a kind.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well since I am from the Athens area I would take them to the University of Georgia first. Then maybe downtown to walk around, shop, and get cookies from Insomnia. I would take them to UGA’s botanical gardens because it is one of my favorite places to shoot families and seniors. I would send the week at either a UGA basketball game or going to play tennis at Tall Socks Tennis triples events they have monthly.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to God and my boyfriend Gable. God always leads me in the direction I need to go. Even if I do not always follow at first I somehow end up in the right places and meet the best people. Gable is so supportive of me in all of my business ventures. Traveling, buying expensive gear, or even just listening to my experiences he is always there for me. I love him.
