We had the good fortune of connecting with Hana Laine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hana, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always wanted to be a business owner and I wanted something that combined my passion for skincare and beauty with my entrepreneurial spirit. In September 2020, during the Covid pandemic, I left my corporate job and enrolled in esthetician school. I then worked at a previous employer and they supported my decision to go back to school. It was amazing to be able to have secure employment during that time while I gained the knowledge needed to make a career out of a passion. After getting my esthetician license in December of 2021, I worked at a skincare spa and gained even more knowledge of being in the “real world”. While I loved that environment, that entrepreneurial spirit was not going away and in February of 2023 I opened my own skincare spa- Looks by Hana Laine.

What should our readers know about your business?
I opened up Looks by Hana Laine a little over a year ago, so I am learning many lessons as I go! My family was beyond helpful with helping me set up everything from my LLC to picking out artwork for the walls. This hasn’t been easy at all, but it has been fun! When it gets overwhelming, I always try to go back to the root of why I wanted to open in the first place, to make people feel good about themselves. Esthetics can often be viewed as purely vanity, but our skin is our largest organ and it’s so important how we take care of it! Looks by Hana Laine welcomes all!!! With all the skin care influencers out there- it can make it feel like going to an esthetician is only for a certain group. I welcome anyone, whether you have certain skincare goals or just need some relaxion- I am here!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live out in Kennesaw and one of my favorite spots for coffee and breakfast is Daily Grind. My husband and I try to support local as much as we can. Off the Marietta Square is the Australian Bakery Café, they serve authentic meat pies, desserts and breakfast all day! Lips Atlanta is a must for anyone who enjoys a good drag show! They have themed shows throughout the week and the food and drinks are amazing!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people!!! Definitely, my husband who has always encouraged me to go after my goals and has let me practice all my new treatments on him! My esty besties who got me through school- Gillian, Callie and Brittney! And my entire family, my mom, dad, brother, sister in law and my nieces, not only do they support me 110% but they are some of my best clients!
