We had the good fortune of connecting with Hameeda Bello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hameeda, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Done is better than perfect. One of the things that stops people from even getting started on a new venture is feeling like they need to know all there is to know about that venture, or they have to execute the task perfectly. As a recovering perfectionist myself, I have wrestled with this on many occasions – Now, when I feel myself hold back, and identify the cause as wanting to execute perfectly – I simply remind myself that done is better than perfect and I go for it. The more action you take, the better you get … but it’s about taking action, taking that first step … it’s not about executing perfectly, it’s about executing…period!

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a residential redevelopment company in Atlanta. We buy properties (typically single family residences) that are in need of updates or repair. These properties then undergo a comprehensive renovation and then either sell the updated property to an happy homeowner or keep the property as a rental.

We are also looking to venture into multi-family properties.

I love that my business allows me to create a positive impact in my community;

EVERY one involved in a single project gets to achieve their specific goals. Everybody wins!

From the distressed homeowner who wants a stress-free sale of their property – sometimes these sellers inherit unwanted property or are facing a foreclosure and just want someone to help them out of a difficult situation so they can move on with their lives.

Also my small business generates activities that provide income and supports OTHER small businesses in my community – from contractors and their crews;; to realtors and closing attorneys; and even passive income opportunities for our lenders.

Finally, I love seeing the expressions of the buyers that purchase our newly renovated properties – I always ask what they love best about the property, and enjoy hearing their answers and how excited they are to move into their new home and start creating memories there.

I have learned that to grow as I business, I also have to grow as a person – my business encourages and challenges me to grow my mindset and become a better version of myself. I have invested as much time and resources into personal development (coaching/mentorship and masterminds) as I have in business-related resources.

The real estate investing business isn’t easy, you are faced with many challenges. What has helped me overcome challenges is having the right mindset, and being surrounded by a strong support system – know who to reach out to for help when needed; and always have a solutions-focused mindset … sitting in a problem gets you no-where. When challenges occur, yes your first reaction can be **** this sucks! but you HAVE to shift quickly from that thought to – what are my options to fix this? It’s amazing how quickly solutions and resources materialize when you actually FOCUS on them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well… I’m a huge foodie, so first thing I would do is take them to some of my favorite restaurants or cafes depending on what they like. Great coffee and dessert spots will be Hansel & Gretel, Paris Baguette and Cafe Blue in Gwinnett County

Eclipse Di Luna is another fun favorite – especially their lambchops; If they would like to try West African food then Ike’s Cafe & Grill in Norcross is a must!!

For sushi I would recommend Lucky China (i know it says China but their sushi is ah-mazing) in Dunwoody
Another great Asian fusion restaurant is Food Terminal in Chamblee
Korean Bbq at 9292 .. I could go on,… lol

Next, for a fun spa experience, I would take them to Woodhouse Spa at the Avalon

We would explore any music, dance or other cultural events going on at the time – for example a jazz event at the High Museum of Art, or a musical at the Fox Theatre

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my Mum – Najet Bello!! She is the inspiration behind it all! First off, when my dad retired, she single-handedly built a nursery school from scratch. Literally – we had moved to a state where we didn’t know anyone, and she used part of the land in our backyard to build a nursery school. She then trained her staff and developed a system that allowed the school to run by itself as a true business. She named school First Step Kids Nursery and in her honor, I named my company First Step Property Solutions. She has been supporting and encouraging throughout my personal and professional journey.

I also want to give a special Shout Out to my friends who believed in me and supported my business from the very beginning. (they prefer to remain anonymous, but i still wanted to recognize them 😉

FInally Shari Neimann – realtor, real estate investor and friend. I considered her an informal mentor during the early stages of my real estate journey. There are not many people who give freely and openly from the heart while expecting nothing in return. Shari is one of them, and I feel truly blessed to know her and can always count on her support and friendship.
