We had the good fortune of connecting with Halle Castille and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Halle, what inspires you?
The biggest inspiration in my art and and my life is color. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I have learned that light cannot exist without darkness. In my latest works, I am investigating the dichotomy between these opposing ideas. The potential energy behind these collisions is a driving inspiration in my art. My mission is to bring color to life through the power of art!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started Halle’s Comet Designs 3 years ago when I was at my absolute lowest. The only thing that kept me going was my art. I poured myself into creating until one day I decided to take the next step. I will never forget this moment, the moment I decided to change my life. I committed to starting my own business and selling my art online. It has been such a difficult, yet rewarding journey! For me, the biggest challenge as a small business owner is learning how to balance everything. It can be very difficult sometimes because I wear all of the hats in my business. One of the things that has been helpful for me is to schedule my own days off for peace of mind. Even with all of the ups and downs, I would never give it up. I am so lucky I have the privilege to create everyday and bring people joy with my art.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is one of the best spots to check out art! A few of my favorite places are The Beltline, Little 5 Points, and the Trap Museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to recognize my best friend of over 20 years, Meagan Lafferty. We have been through absolutely everything together, including the biggest adventure of all – art school. Not many people are lucky enough to have friendships for this long… I am looking forward to the next 20 years!
