We had the good fortune of connecting with Half Hot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Half Hot, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When it comes down to it? Being honest about who we are, and showing others that true self. It’s all about turning our personalities all the way up and breaking off the knob. We’ve tried so many looks and sounds as a group over the years. Each time getting a little closer to the looks and feel that felt the most natural. When we first started, we tried to be what we thought people wanted to see. We weren’t as genuine about our look or sound, and people picked up on it. It’s obvious, especially to the folks that are supporting you. By being as genuinely on brand with our particular type of strangeness, we felt more at home, and with that folks started to enjoy our act so much more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are Half Hot, Atlanta’s Premier Southern Glam experience! We combine glam stylings with punk rock, arena rock, dashes of alt country, ska, and more into our sound and mix all of that with energetic live shows! We got here through lots of trial and error, finding out who we are and what we’re about. And that is not an easy process. There have been many long days and nights involved, some serious discussions, and occasionally a parting of ways. But overall, through the growing pains, we’ve come out better and stronger. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves as a group and individuals. We want everyone to know that it’s never over. There’s always a way to grow and evolve. Be your brand of weird! Proudly fly your freak flag, someone (probably more than just one someone) will love you for it! Also, take your job seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously. Don’t be afraid to have fun

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ll start off with hanging out in Piedmont Park on Sunday, grabbing some food and a free show at Park Tavern (Sunset Sessions), Monday; we can get to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, stopping by Woody’s Cheesesteaks before heading over to Smith’s Olde Bar for a night of drinks and live music. Tuesday; Ponce City Market, Das BBQ, and a night at The CocaCola Roxy. Wednesday; Little Five points, stopping by Junkman’s Daughter, the Vortex, and finishing the night off at the Star Community Bar. Thursday; Head over to EAV, get some food at The EARL, and either catch a show there or head down to 529 (or both). Friday; Decatur Square, Coffee at Java Monkey, Lunch at the Square pub, Ice Cream at Jeni’s and of course a show at Eddie’s Attic Saturday; Stop off in Canton with coffee and brunch at Great and Plenty, some shopping at the Cotton Mill Exchange, Drink and maybe a live lawn show at Reformation

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The entire Atlanta music scene is amazing! Special shoutouts to Blood Oaks for getting us on some of our first bills, The Ides of June, Greco, Wet Jeans, and so many more. There are also some great super fans out there like Carl Oligny who shows up to at the very least a show an evening if not 3 or 4 in a night!
