We had the good fortune of connecting with Hadassah Joseph, MSW and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hadassah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I don’t think there is a specific story about how Beau Beginnings started. As a narrative theory enthusiast, it takes many connected stories to create Beau Beginnings. The one I choose to share today is how I turned my hobby into a side hustle story to a full fledged business.
Initially, Beau Beginnings was created to pay my student loans as a side hustle and provide some income while I completed Grad school at University of Georgia (UGA). It later served as a space to sharpen my interviewing and coaching skills. Throughout grad school, mindfulness, and mental wellness became an integral part of my personal self-care plan as I tried to find my balance in my roles as a mom, grad student, and a working person. I could see tons of women just like me building new careers, creating bigger-than-life goals, birthing new ideas while planning a major milestone – marriage.Of course with any major life event, comes the natural stresses and anxiety. In some cases it can increase our mental health disorders symptoms and I wanted to create a safe space where couples can learn to support each other, be vulnerable and get the services they need to be fully present and prepared for their big day! And just like that, Beau Beginnings became the holistic wedding boutique that serves brides and couples as they transition from engagement to marriage. I want to see WHOLE persons doing their best, experiencing the best, and being their best as they take on their new roles as life partners.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Beau Beginnings focuses on the wellness of its clients periodt!
Beau Beginnings is a trifold business that offers marital & relationship education to wedding couples and brides,it provides wellness tools to mitigate the wedding stress and mental health issues that can arise due to the planning process. Lastly, it thrives on the active collaboration between our couple and officiant in creating their voice all throughout the ceremony planning process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am an introvert, so we may just crash at my home…..just joking.
If we were to hang I would spend a day or two at the Avalon in Alpharetta. It has just about everything you need for a fun, relaxing day from great restaurants, spa, ice cream shop, movie theater, and boutique shops. I would visit Chateau Elan for a wine tasting experience, SkyView Atlanta, brunch & yoga at Piedmont Park, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Center for Civil & Human Rights
My two favorite places to eat are Babette’s Cafe and Slutty Vegan ( I know two extremes but so good!)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
OMG, where can I start!! First all the glory to the Most High YHWH for his continued blessings. I would like to say a special thanks to my husband and friend who has supported my vision and my sister Elisheba who has joined the team as Business Director. Having someone to share the everyday tasks as an entrepreneur gives me the freedom to focus on the craft, coaching and sharing knowledge with our tribe. I am indebted to them . Together, they have inspired me to push harder and dream bigger!
I am in total awe of the growing circle of women who have poured into Beau Beginnings by believing and trusting our vision. In this season Jamilla Tarisai has provided the editorial opportunity to share wedding wellness in the Iconic Bride Magazine – the first size-inclusive magazine. I could not be any prouder of the work the team has put forth so far! I am grateful for women such as Tabitha (business bestie) the owner of Poetry in Jar candles and Irene Tyndale, humble but gifted wedding & event planner of Irene Tyndale Wedding and Events.
