We had the good fortune of connecting with Greta Buccellato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Greta, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Long before I had the idea for my Coded Connections augmented reality application in 2019, I had always been always a creator. From a young age I’ve always much preferred the process of figuring out how things work, taking them apart, and putting them back together again as opposed to numbers and account ledgers. Of course I needed to learn business basics to balance out the cost of all the creation, so I started a small LLC and found a great business planner to help me figure out the rest. I learned how to use my current projects to fund the next and how to take my products to market. Everything from Art, soap, cocktail bitters and recently augmented reality. All of it. It is a synergistic system that has actually worked for me. It all funded each other, including the original prototypes for my augmented reality company Coded Connections Atlanta. After producing several successful applications, I officially decided to file the patent, and share it with the world. Today in 2022, I’m proud to say that I am the creator of a interactive augmented reality application with a focus on the hospitality industry. You can experience Coded Connections cocktails in Midtown at the Bellyard hotel bar, Drawbar.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My passions have always seemed to revolve around inspiring joy in others. So bartending in the hospitality industry felt like a natural career path for me. After producing my first prototype, I quickly realized that I could apply Coded Connections Atlanta to my job field as the ultimate medium I had always been searching for. A versatile product that I could custom tailor to connect with my guests on a personal level to provide a unprecedented and memorable experience. With the potential that Coded Connections has, I am very excited to see the what my technology can offer to the hospitality industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh Atlanta has everything.. First, I’m taking you to Drawbar for a Coded Connections Augmented reality cocktail on the roof of the Bellyard Hotel in Midtown. After that it’s pretty much all fair game.
We could daytrip around Krog Street tunnel and see its ever-changing canvas. It is a definite must, but be warned I will probably be bringing paint along for us to play with.
We could head over to Establishment for a stunning classic cocktail and the nearby Four Seasons Bar Margot is also exceptional. The old railway of the Beltline is also a whole day of entertainment with many awesome places to stop and indulge.
We’re definitely going to the Markets. Auburn Market for Jerk Chicken at Afrodish, Ponce city market for Biltong Bar’s Amaro collection, Dekalb farmers market to wander and splurge for hours.. If you’ve never been, The Dekalb Market is pretty much a international delight amusement park. Also we will be hitting up Tasty China if you can handle the delicious numbing peppercorn Szechuan spice. Truist park is another one to hit up for a days visit.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My #1 Shoutout is my family, for always being my main source of inspiration and supporting my ideas and creativity, even as crazy as some of the ideas might sound.
Shoutout to my Atlanta bar community for making me push myself to want be a better bartender. There is so much amazing talent everywhere here in Atlanta, and I’m so proud to be a part of it.
Shoutout to the incredible Keyatta Mincey Parker and her A Sip of paradise garden in East Atlanta for the outdoor fun, support and endless herbs to play with.
Shoutout to Nikka Shae (@ohnikka) and the Bellyard Hotel in Midtown for being adventurous and awesome.
Also a huge Shoutout to the team over at Drift Fish House in Marietta. They are hands down the best group that I have ever had the pleasure of working and growing with. I learned so much there in regards to what service standards should be in hospitality. Also thanks for always trying my concoctions guys.
