We had the good fortune of connecting with Greriz Uribe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greriz, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
One of the key habits that has contributed to my success is a commitment to helping others achieve their goals while also focusing on continuous learning and innovation. I believe that success is not only about personal accomplishments but also about fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can excel.

Additionally, I make it a point to get to know the history and context behind the people and processes I work with. Understanding the background of team members and existing workflows helps me offer more tailored support and fosters stronger, more effective collaborations. This holistic approach not only aids in addressing immediate issues but also contributes to long-term success by building a more cohesive and knowledgeable team.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well… . I hold a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Zulia (LUZ), the equivalent of a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States. The political situation in Venezuela made me develop new skills and apply my Engineering background into the sales, process engineering and business intelligence world. With more than 15 years of experience in successful planning, data analysis, and project management I’m currently performing one of the most critical roles at Gibson Landscape Services leading the Preconstruction Department and incorporating new strategies to increase the main KPI’s of the company.

One thing I can highlight is that I haven’t been afraid of starting from zero again, I’m always willing to learn and I trust in my capacity to develop new skills and grow! As I mentioned previously, after I graduated in my dream career, I had to pivot my job expectation into developing a new career on sales. In this first experience I used my knowledge on the oil Industry to let the companies in this area to become my biggest customers. I was awarded for 3 years in a row as the best sales consultant. After pausing my career for a year, I moved to a different company where I could apply my knowledge in Process Reengineering and sales to create the strategy and roadmap of enterprise data to increase competitiveness and achieve the sustained development of the institution. Seven years ago, I moved to United States, I had my second baby and a year later I got an offer to start a new career in the Construction Industry in a Company that shares not just my vision but also my values! I started as an estimating assistant and today I have the honor to be member of the leadership team and contribute with leveraging company best practices, technological advancements, data analysis and lessons learned from previous projects to drive continuous improvement and deliver superior results in the organization.

The biggest challenge has been to balance my professional life with my personal life. My family has always been my biggest support, and even though being a single mom which loves to be present in my boys’ lives might seem challenging sometimes, I will say that running in between project meetings, teacher conferences and T-Ball Games has help me to develop great organizational skills!

I have learned infinity lessons along my career… two of the ones I would always advice others would be: If you are an employee, think as the company was yours with every action or function you perform… Also, as an employee or company owner, ask all the questions you can and listen! This applies for everything!

Something I would like to have as legacy is the importance of helping others to succeed. We all have the chance to impact other people lives and one way or another make it better! The more you learn and the more you grow, it will translate to the wider scope you could have to impact and support others!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I will divide the visit in two parts…

First couple days, I will drive them around the city and show them the amazing projects our crews have built… the company purpose is Uniting People and Places, and the quality with our crews finish every project and how those places are today points of gathering and joy for people is something that I feel proud to share. (Old Fourth Ward, Centennial Yards, Metlife Midtown Union, Ponce city Market, Centennial Olympic Park among others). Additionally, I would take advantage of being around those areas to show them how diverse and amazingly delicious are most of the restaurants in ATlanta.

Second, I will love to spend a weekend with them driving to small towns like Blue Ridge or Helen, maybe visit natural places like Chattahoochee River or Amicalola Falls… Relaxing, breathing fresh air and enjoying nature!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hands down that person will be my grandmother Carmen. She taught me the importance of BEING! She showed me how important it is understanding and helping others. I have applied her kindness and humbleness in every aspect in my life and I feel that has opened doors for me to be able to work with amazing mentors like Ilse Chemaly, Ney Espina and Tony Gibson!

Also, I wouldn’t be in the place I am right now without the support of my parents, my sister and my 2 wonderful boys. They support me, inspire me and encourage me every day!
