We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregg DaCosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregg, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
When I started I just wanted to create stories and have people see my creativity across the world, but as I got older I realized that I wanted my stories to add value in someone’s life so I started to create stories that talk on mental health issues. I would always hope that with what ever stories I create it would hopefully impact someone’s life in a positive way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to say I’m a jack of all trades. Some people stop with one thing, but what I’ve been learning in order to truly master your craft you have to learn the jobs. Meaning, if I’m going to hire a crew for a film I have to understand every position I’m hiring, even if it’s a certain percentage of learning that position it’s still something that is better than not knowing it at all. I’m thankful for people like Antoine Allen and Mike Waller a.k.a Junkboxai or Box Visuals. They brought me on gigs in order to hone my skills and learn things on how to use my camera correctly, lighting, even showed me on how to create AI animations. My biggest message to people is to find someone who knows more than you, go under their wings and allow yourself to be vulnerable so you can learn and utilize that skill set in the future that can eventually help you teach someone else or create a business from it. With my business Gregg DaCosta Studios we’re constantly looking to help other creatives spread the word of their business whether it’s through promotional content or if they want to create a film, we get it done.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depends on the mode I’m in honestly, I can be a introvert at times and just stay inside of the house and watch some tv or play video games if I’m not working on edits for projects.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Lester Greene for always putting my name through the doors, I appreciate that always.. Shoutout to all my supporters who have been watching my films like Guilty Conscience on TUBI and supporting me since the beginning, I don’t think I could’ve gone this far without any of you.
