We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg London and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk certainly play the central role in the creation of my theatre, Long Bay Theatre in Myrtle Beach, S.C. as well as, the newly formed The Atlanta Institute of Musical Theatre with my partners Don Jones and Kristine Reese. How many parts of Theatre are really about potential. From the first thought, to opening the doors, there is a crackling potential that drives us to create. We never know for sure if anyone will show up or whether they will like what we do. The hope that art or high entertainment will be created is a reason to keep pushing ahead. There are risks financially, artistically, and personally.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been an actor, director, musician, voice teacher, and professor for over 40 years. My path was cleared by so many great mentors from art teachers, orchestra directors, private teachers in music, college professors and fellow artists. It was not easy. I was a poor kid with no father in a small southern town in SC. I didn’t have access to the arts. Because teachers saw potential, doors began to open. I want to share the tools that I have collected on my journey with new voices and artists who love the work as much as I do!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I was showing friends around Atlanta, I take in some plays and musicals from some of the hardest working theatres in the country…Actor’s Express, Horizon, True Colors, City Springs, Out Front to name a few. Oh, and SO many delicious places to eat after the shows!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my colleagues, community and supporters. None of this works without their trust and support. Don and Kristine are visionaries and they trusted me to help build the foundations for the Altlanta Institute of Musical Theatre. That means the world to me.
