We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Douglass Bridges and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest I really didn’t have a thought process behind starting my business. I was more so thrown into it, rather than making an informed decision. After many years of working with and for other people, my Grandmother afforded me the opportunity to take the space that she once used for her upholstery business, and turn it into my own salon. I was blessed to have my parents as investors to help me build it out and the rest was pretty much history!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative, salon owner, licensed cosmetologist and board certified hair loss practitioner I stay busy. What sets me and my brand apart from others is, my desire to genuinely help people build self confidence and encourage self care as a priority through my hair care services. I’m most excited about helping people suffering from hair loss find solutions for their hair needs! I have gotten where I am today through hard work, determination and a lot of help from others! It has not been easy at all but, I have overcome many challenges by deciding not to quit and having faith in myself and God! One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way is perseverance! I must persevere despite any obstacles. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are here to serve the masses and my local community however we can!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love music so I’d take them to a live show at either “The Camp” @ Mid City or Stovehouse in Huntsville, Alabama. Some of my favorite eateries is Rock-N-Roll Sushi, Sam & Gregs Pizza & Sac’s Bar and Grill.
Movies at “The Monaco” is always fun and Shopping at Bridgestreet.
We’ll have to also check out the local art scene at the “Huntsville Museum of Art” and Lowe Mills.
Take a trip to the “Space and Rocket Center”
And of course go to church at “The Beacon”!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my Granny “Mother Jennie Hobbs Powell” your generosity and favor towards me has been the greatest part of my story, may you forever Rest in Peace. To my parents, thank you for believing and investing in me and my future. To my husband and son, my greatest gifts, thank you! To my clients near and far, I wouldn’t have any success without you!
