We had the good fortune of connecting with Gorgeous Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gorgeous, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The Ultimate goal for Enchanted Lotus is to estalish a holistic safe haven for Nubian Woman by blending ancient traditional ways with modern wellness practices. By the end of my career I aspire to have created a sustainable and empowering space that encompasses facets of well-being.

Starting with our enchanted skin care products, my goal is to develop a line that specifically addresses the skincare needs of individuals with melanin rich skin. Our goal is to offer products that not only enhance physical well-being but also serve as a source of empowerment, allowing individuals to embrace their unique identity with pride.

In the realm of birthwork, I aim to be a trusted resouce for expectant mothers within the Nubian coomunity, offering comprehensive support throughout the birthing process. This involves providing expert guidance throughout pregnancy, labor and postpartum by using traditional and modern ways such as Reiki Healing.

For body adornments, I want to to curate a collection that reflects the richness of Nubian Culture, incorporating traditional elements into contemporary designs. These adornments will not only serve as aesthetic expressions but also as symbols of cultural pride and heritage.

Ultimately. my professional journey is centered around creating a positive impact within the Numbian community, promoting holisitc well-being and contrbuting to the enrichment and empowerment of individuals throughout their life stages.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Enchanted Lotus was created to be a safe space for by her, especially Nubian Women. Black Women have been put down, sexualized , discrimanted, amomgst other things but she is one of the least things talked about when it comes to what are some things wrong with society. I am a brown skin girl with scars that thought my presentation was’nt enough, that I wasnt what people would want to see, How could my name be Gorgeous but I did not feel like it? Having the time and space to sit down, dig deep within myself in 2020 I had to acknowlegde that I control my perception, my perception of self and others. Happiness and beauty is a mindset within not something to be worn as an accessory on the outside. During that time I started researching herbs and oils that heal the skin from the inside out, after much research and experiments I created my first body butter, the alchemist in me began to come out because after that first creation all I was making was a variety of body butter and body oils. Combining scents, herbs and oils watching how these creations were healing my skin and a few others that were curious as to what I was making. Once I saw the power in my creations I said it’s only right I share with those around me and my community, being a representation for other women that may not feel completely comfortable in their skin. My motto is when you smell good , you feel good making you look good. Having the opportunity to work with so many women it was the extra push needed to start my doula jouney soon to be Enchanted Womb. I want the people that dont feel confident in their skin to know I see you , To the expectant mothers that feel scared from lack of support and preparation I hear you and Enchanted Lotus is here for you. What got me here today is trusting in myself and my capabilities, I had enough of saying I want to be sucessful and I put myself Iin a position to be successful, Im betting on myself each and every time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate two special shoutouts! Starting off with my mentor Janisa Camille owner of Doula Of the Divine. Janisa has truly been a divine light in my journey of birthwork. From the moment I saw how she inserted herself in the birthing community and creating a black birthworker community of her own that’s so full of resources and knowledge, I knew I wanted to be under her tutelage for guidance. I like to say I manifested myself into being her intern because when I first saw Janisa in the birthing space she was hosting the First Black Birthworker Brunch, I was a bit disappointed that I missed the event but I made it my mission to be at the second event. When the Second Annual Black Birthworker’s Brunch came around I was a sponsor and I introduced myself to Janisa informing her of my mission she then went on to advise me to join her mentorship. Making that choice truly helped me navigate the type of doula I am today and aspiring to be, not just as a brand but an individual as well. Janisa will remind at you any moment that birth work is spritual work, its a calling. Being in the mentorship made me dig deep and show up for myself to be of better assistance to the mother’s i’ll be working with. After being her mentee for a couple of months she asked me to be her intern, from that day to now Janisa has shown me what it means to be a doula spritually and as a business women. I thank her for that because the knowledge she shares is priceless these are traditonal ways that were shown to her and she has passed them on to me, I will forever be grateful to sit under someone that wants to teach me. My second shoutout is to my family of course, my parents have been supporting me from the moment Enchanted Lotus was simply an idea. I give major thanks to them investing in me, staying up with me to fullfill orders, going with me to pop-ups all their time and energy dedicated to me and my brand, I give thanks.
